I've been working on my house all year to weatherproof so I can save on my heating and A/C bills. One small improvement has been the installation of electric switch insulation on the outside walls to keep any air from coming in. There are 6 in a package  for about $1.58 at Lowe's.
It's really a small job that will just take a screwdriver and a little time. I started a the front door light switch and worked my way around until I had the first floor completed.
