north carolina: Memories of Past Snowfalls in Northern Virginia

I have to admit to some ambivalence about the heavy snow storms that have dumped close to two feet of snow from the North Carolina mountains to Boston in the last couple of weeks. We experienced several major snowfalls when we lived in the Washington D.C. area ... and I miss them because they brought the hectic life of a major metropolitan area to a halt. People were forced to cope with the storms effect and it was always satisfying to stoke up the fire, drink hot chocolate and watch the snow as it blanketed the trees and ground. If our … (9 comments)
