celebrate the day: Constitution Day- September 17- Celebrate the Day! - 09/16/13 09:09 PM
Constitution Day- September 17- Celebrate THIS Day!

Something so basic to our country, The Constitution of the United States was ratified on September 17, 1787.  And, today we celebrate that day.

And, I am embarrassed to say that it has been since school (not sure which grade) that I last read the Constitution or the Amendments.   There was also a time when I could recite the Preamble to the Constitution.  (Think back, I’ll give you a clue…We the People of the United States….)

That is tantamount to saying that I’ve not looked or examined the foundation of my … (22 comments)

celebrate the day: It's Friday the 13th, 2013!! Are You Superstitious? - 09/12/13 09:03 PM
It's Friday the 13, 2013!  Are You Superstitious?

Yes, for some people, this day can present some difficulties.  If you suffer from friggatriskaidekaphobia, which is the fear of Friday the 13th, you may find some reason to stay home today.

Or, you may take extra precautions while you drive,  bring your special lucky charm to your closing set for today or ask someone else to hang that picture if you’re doing a Staging today.
Thankfully, Friday the 13th occurs only twice this year.  The next Friday the 13th is in December.  It occurs only once in 2014 … (35 comments)

National I Love Food Day- September 9, 2013!  Celebrate the Day!

September 9 is National I Love Food Day!  No, I don’t know the origins of this day, nor does it matter, because let’s face it….. We all love Food!

Isn’t it interesting how almost everything we do in our lives  revolves around food?

Going to school?   Pack a lunch or buy it?
Going to a football game?   What foods are you going to have at the tailgate party?  BBQ? Chili? Brats?
Having a birthday party? Hot dogs? Sandwiches? Cake? Cupcakes?  Pizza?
Graduating from school?  Catering … (30 comments)

Be Late for Something Day Followed by Fight Procrastination Day=2 Dizzy Days for Me!

September 5 is “Be Late for Something Day.”  I’d bet that for many here being late goes against your grain.  You wouldn’t think of being late for a listing appointment or showing or worse a closing.  In fact,we stress as we’re driving towards an appointment because we might be a minute late.

Well September 5 is letting you off the hook for always being on time.  Pick something you have scheduled and don’t fret or get knots in your stomach.  Take a deep breath and tell … (22 comments)

Senior Citizens Day- August 21st!  Be Nice to Us!

It is once again Senior Citizens Day and another day for you to be nice to those of us of a certain age.   And, what is that age? For the most part,  it’s anywhere from 60 to 65.

And, lest you think we’re going somewhere, guess what….. we’re growing!
Yep!  According to the Administration of Aging (no I’m not making this up, although it does sound like something from Harry Potter.. the Ministry of Magic) the 65+ population increased by 18% since 2000.

And, those of you coming up … (12 comments)

National Chocolate Pecan Pie Day & National Lemonade Day!  I’m on a Sugar High!- August 20!

What is it they say about forces coming together to form the perfect day?  Can it get much better than National Chocolate Pecan Pie Day AND National Lemonade Day falling on the same day!?!

I am from Texas so Pecan Pie and Lemonade go hand in hand.   Yes, it sounds like a huge sugar rush, doesn’t it.  Well, it’s for just one day of the year, so why not celebrate.

Chocolate pecan pie is just like pecan pie... you just add chocolate!   And, I … (26 comments)

National Relaxation Day is August 15!  Quick....Say Namaste!

I’m giving you a head’s up on this one so you can make plans to have a very relaxing day tomorrow.  National Relaxation Day started as National Slacker Day in Britain in 2001, but we have grabbed onto it and made it our own day to make sure we get in some more ways of relaxing.
If you’re looking at your schedule for tomorrow and trying to figure out a way to participate, you’re off to a good start.  Obviously not everyone can just take a day of relaxation tomorrow.... there are closings, … (26 comments)

Happiness Happens Day is August 8!   Quickly...What Makes You Happy?

Don’t think about the answer... are you happy ?  Well today is Happiness Happens Day.
I’m serious, there is such a day, as well as Happiness Month (August).

Happiness Happens Day was started by Pamela Gail Johnson who is also the founder of the Secret Society of Happy People who wanted an avenue to express her happiness and well as create one for others.  She has also written The Secret Society of Happy People’s Thirty One Types of Happiness Guide.

So, what was your answer?  Are You happy? … (31 comments)

celebrate the day: International Day of Friendship-July 30, 2013. Let's Reconnect! - 07/29/13 08:53 PM
International Day of Friendship - July 30, 2013  Let’s Reconnect!

In 2011, the UN general Assembly proclaimed July 30 to be the International Day of Friendship.  The hope was that friendships between countries, cultures and people could “inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.”

And that’s not all.... Friendship Day is the first Sunday in August, which is this Sunday, August 4.
All of this talk of friendship made me think of the friends we have and how friendships change as we get older.

We’ve all read about how important friends are....they help shape our values and interests when … (30 comments)

National Pecan Pie Day- July 12- Celebrate the Day

July 12 is National Pecan Pie Day, and since it’s Friday, why not celebrate with a dessert.   How does this relate to staging?  Well, in some ways it might but you have to take a few seconds to tolerate my ramblings.

Now if you’re from Texas, you’ll understand how important pecan pie is.   You wouldn’t think of having Thanksgiving Dinner without at least one pecan pie on your dessert table.  If you have never had pecan pie (seriously?) its center is primarily Karo syrup with eggs, sugar and vanilla baked in … (30 comments)

A Bit of Sand, Some Fireworks and, of Course, Ice Cream.

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Fourth of July!  We spent some time at the beach taking in the
beginning of the sand sculpture contest.  It was also fun watching everyone get set up for the festivities..... Delray Beach Ocean Rescue had a group photo taken before heading to the beach, our  Delray Beach City workers were beginning to set up barriers and a crew was getting the stage and sound equipment set up for the night’s festivities.

My days of hanging at the … (28 comments)

National Chocolate Pudding Day!  June 26-Celebrate the Day!

June 26th is National Chocolate Pudding Day!  I know.... what’s that got to do with anything?   Absolutely nothing... except a good excuse to eat chocolate pudding!

I don’t need a special holiday to eat chocolate pudding however in doing some light research for National Chocolate Pudding Day, I did discover that there are 2 versions of Chocolate Pudding.

Yes... I’ve been missing out on another chocolate dessert I could have been eating!!!!!!!

“Pudding” is really a British word and dish.  It’s more of a steamed cake... kind of like a spongy … (32 comments)

What Do Chocolate Eclairs and Onion Rings Have in Common?  Celebrate the Day -June 22!

What do chocolate eclairs and onion rings have in common?  Three  things........
1.  They are both so-o-o-o-o-o good to eat.
2.  They are both s0-0-0-0-0-0 bad for you.
3.  They are both celebrated today!

I’ve actually made both of these, although never at the same time.  And, I’ve eaten both of these oh-so-bad treats but never at the same time.

From what I remember when making an eclair, it’s not really that hard but it can take some time.   You bake them first at … (23 comments)
