family: My Daddy is having a birthday today! - 10/20/15 05:57 AM
My daddy turns 75 today! He's a super amazing guy and we're planning a birthday dinner for him tonight.
I posted on Facebook that it was his birthday today. I'm going to show him all the birthday wishes people have put for him on "Book Book" (what my dad callsfacebook).  Won't you go over and add him some birthday wishes on my FB page.  It takes a lot of hard work to get to 75. And doesn't he look great?
This photo was taken back in May at my cousin's wedding shower. That's my dad holding the cake stand he made … (17 comments)

family: Please pray with me America, and pray for those who serve and protect - 08/30/15 10:33 PM
When my Abigail was a little girl, still in grammar school, she began karate lessons. Joshua came into her life and his mom Stephanie into mine.  Stephanie and I would sit on an old broken down sofa in that hot building and watch our kids.  I bet both of us can still count to ten in Japanese because we heard it over and over and over. At the time Stephanie was a deputy.
It was during those days when Stephanie met David "duh huh" Holland and I watched her fall in love with him. David's job changed from deputy to state trooper … (22 comments)

family: Serendipitous Sunday- a long ago memory in church today - 08/02/15 11:45 AM
My daddy is a deacon in our small southern Baptist Church and has been on and off for years.  He was called on today to lead the congregation in prayer in the middle of the service. As he read from his bible about the Laws of Moses being from the old testament and God's grace and forgiveness being from the new testament. When his prayer ended and he walked back to his seat I noticed what Bible he brought to church today.
At some point in my childhood my parents got The Living Bible and I remember they read it, they took it to … (10 comments)

family: My Donald is an amazing husband - 08/01/15 02:09 PM
It was a very stressful week in real estate this week.  We had the closing that didn't and isn't going to happen.  Then we had the closing that was delayed.  The delay cause a terrible burden on the buyers because of a personal situation and I'm very disappointed by the lender. Of course her apology was not "I'm sorry I didn't get it done for them" but instead was "I'm sorry your are disappointed" Didn't sound or feel much like an apology.
Then there was the other bank that screwed up my trust account.  Yeah you read that right. A banking ERROR … (30 comments)

family: A day off work... well kind of - 07/25/15 01:26 PM
I didn't show property or go into the office today. Of course there was still a conversation with a sellers, an offer and more photo taking than in two hours than maybe any day before in my life.
I snapped this one right after saying to my cousin Hillary Elizabeth "you're about to be married". Doesn't she look happy. It was a beautiful day and I got to spend it with lots of family.  And even though I was completely exhausted at the end of the day it was a wonderful day. We added to our family, we ate, we fellowshiped, we played.
You can … (46 comments)

family: Now you don't, now you see me - 06/28/15 01:53 PM

Yes, yes, I know it's backwards.  But That was my weekend ... you don't and in the morning it's NOW YOU SEE ME back to work.
But we had a wonderful weekend get-a-way.  Great food, great friends and visiting somewhere we'd never been together. And even a new story from my Donald from years ago... he snuck off base during basic training in SC. Seeing the Fort Jackson signs reminded me and I got the story.
Tomorrow we both head back to work, but we'll still be celebrating our anniversary!

family: Father's Day in my family! - 06/21/15 01:46 PM
Well I started the day running late, but I made it to church to teach my Sunday School class and enjoy a nice church service. Then I had lunch with my parents and gave my Daddy his father's day present. It was a quart of local raw honey and he smiled... he liked it. My dad believes gifts should be something you make and can use.
He's been my daddy for half a century now, so we've had a lot of Father's Day celebrations!  He's a great daddy.  And an even better "grand-diddy" to my Abigail.
Then later in the day I gave … (23 comments)

family: Precious moments.... - 06/09/15 01:17 PM
Recently I had a disastrous forgetful moment turn into a life changing wonderful event. The night before my daughter's graduation I put my camera on the charger. I told Donald to not let me forget it.  I met both my parents and my brother before so we could ride together. Donald left to get the car gassed up and me... I forgot the camera.  Now I don't blame anyone but me.  Or ... maybe it was fate.
I sat through graduation focused on the event.  I watched my beautiful daughter in line. I watched her sitting there and waiting for her row.  I watched … (14 comments)

family: My sweet and talented Daddy - 05/31/15 12:28 PM
My cousin Hillary is getting married in July and she saw a rustic tree slice cake stand for wedding cakes and thought it was really cool and wanted one. So off she went to the internet and searched. She did find some, but the price just wasn't in her wedding budget. But she knew my Daddy love to carve things from wood so she asked him.
Well yesterday at her bridal shower we all got to see my daddy's work and it's beautiful.  In fact, I like it so much I think I'm going to have to ask for one for my anniversary … (24 comments)

family: Serendipity- back at the rose bush 22 years later - 05/17/15 01:04 PM
If you blink, your children will be all grown up. It happens in a flash and you wonder where all those days went. I'm sure it feels like a forever journey to my Abigail that will have birthday number 27 next month, but the 22 years between these two photos taken by a rose bush in her Grandmother's yard have just swooshed by. Now maybe we'll be back here in 5 years taking the next one when she graduates from Medical School.  A lot has happened in those 22 years.

family: Happy Mother's Day! - 05/10/15 12:10 PM
At Christmas at my mom's house  years ago my daughter snapped this photo of my mom after the following conversation:
Abigail: "Grandmama, I have been looking at all these old pictures of you and you stopped smiling when you had kids"
MY Mom:  "I did not"
Abigail then flipped though the photo album and said
before - smiling
before - smiling
after- not
after- not
My mom laughed so now we have a after kids smiling photo :)
This is one of those after not smiling ones.

This one on the other hand was a before. In fact that chipmunk is what my Daddy gave my mommy for her 16th birthday.  … (11 comments)

family: proud Mama today - 05/09/15 10:56 AM
Was just a stepping stone when my daughter graduated today.  She'll be onward and upward and back in school on Monday and in a few weeks applying to medical school.  If you want to see more I've just posted bunches of photos from today on my Facebook wall.  But I had to come share my favorite here.  They always have an ambulance on stand by when they have an event at GCSU centennial center and they did today for the graduation.  After it was over my daughter made a b-line to run there and hug her co-workers.
That's who she is.

family: Heavy heart - 04/28/15 11:15 AM
I was busy as a bee again today when I was at work. I also had a Dr. appointment this afternoon because I'm feeling a bit under the weather. Then I went back to the office and worked on various parts of three contracts. One  I had to scan and send to the listing agent. Had to forward an addendum the bank sent to yet another buyer today. Also had to type an amendment to get signed after the negotiations after the inspection.
My Donald is so very sweet.  He was there for my hand holding while they poked and prodded my vanishing, diving, blow out and collapsing … (35 comments)

family: My daughter, Abigail, could use a little moral support - 04/17/15 05:27 AM
If you have read my blog for any amount of time you know my daughter is a determined, ambitious ... helper of others. She set off to college back in the summer of 2006 telling me she was going to be a trainer and work in sports medicine. I just sat back and said "whatever" just go to school.
Later I got a call saying "don't be mad", but now I'm going to EMT school.  Later I found out she also sneaked (no not kidding, Sneaked) and attended firefighter school too.  Then she was employed full time and going to paramedic school.  Another graduation and … (23 comments)

family: A little reflection about my Grandmother - 03/23/15 11:45 AM
My Grandmother was born March 23, 1918
I lost my Grandmother in the late summer of 2009.  I still miss her and today when "family" landed me spending the day in the Emergency Room I spend some drive time reflecting about my Grandmother.  She was my caregiver when my mom worked from the time I was 1 year old when my mom went to work until my brother was born when I was 5.  Plus I continued to go to her house after school and in summers for years and years to come.
When my Grandmother begin to have health issues … (29 comments)

family: TBT- my groundhog baby brother! - 02/05/15 09:48 AM
If you have followed my blog you might know that I was born on St Paddy's Day and my daughter and summer arrived on the same day and it tends to run in my family.  My little brother was born on February 2nd. I won't tell you what year because well my birthday is just a few weeks after his each year and there is always pay back.  When I turned 40 my card came addressed to "the old lady of the house".  The little nerd.  We'll be celebrating his birthday next week.
Now I have to go find some old … (20 comments)

family: TBT- Monopoly anyone? - 12/18/14 11:26 AM
When I was a girl my family would spend countless hours playing board games.  I must have been 6 when this was taken because that's how old I was when I got my Monopoly game for Christmas and you can see the edge of the Christmas tree in the corner.  My dad, my cousin Terri and my next door neighbor and life long friend Penney and I were playing the new game and my little brother playing with a toy tractor on the floor.  I don't think families play board games much anymore... too busy playing on their smart phones and … (34 comments)

family: A very special day in my family - 11/11/14 11:30 AM
All afternoon I meant to get to writing a post about the nice park dedication I went to this morning at 11:11 on 11/11, but it just never happened.  There are a lot of reasons. One is we had a closing today. Another is that I had to type an offer this afternoon. But the real real reason is because Veterans Day just takes a back seat to one of the Veterans I love most in this world.
That Verteran is my Daddy, Ennis Lankford.  That's him holding my sweet little cousin Stella.  The photo was taken at the park … (11 comments)

family: Serendipity? God's hand? you decide. - 09/21/14 01:37 PM
This afternoon as I had just finished my post and was about to head out the door and drive home for the evening my daughter called.  It was just before 6 so I knew she would be driving to work as she has to be there at 6:45 for 7:00 start time. I wasn't alarmed because she calls me when she is driving to and from work to chat.  She's working full time and going to school full time this semester so we don't see each other as frequently as we are accustomed to.
Today, quite by accident, she missed a … (15 comments)

family: My serendipitous life... posted on a Sunday. - 09/14/14 01:14 PM
It was the summer of 1998 and I was working on my first website and was meeting my "webmaster" on line in a chat room of all places.  Hey it was the 90s, we didn't have a facebook group.
But in that chat room waiting for Jack was when my very own Serendipity occured. I had the fortunate happenstance of bumping into my Donald.  Yes, we met online in a chat room.  I don't think eharmoney had been invented yet.  But fact is, we would have never been looking for each other anyway.  We both had our own bucket of rocks … (16 comments)
