lake sinclair: Will Lake Sinclair remain full now that Plant Branch is closed? - 09/28/16 02:53 PM
Georgia Power built Lake Sinclair. It started in the late 20s, but dam construction halted during the depression in the 30s (remember when you could just say "the depression") and resumed in the late 40s and the lake was full in 1953.  It was low during a drought in the early 70s and Lake Oconee came to be north of Sinclair and connected by Wallace dam on the Oconee River feeding into Sinclair.
Starting in the early 80s and ever since they have pumped millions of gallons back and forth between the two lakes daily. When 12 to 20 inches of water … (6 comments)

lake sinclair: Lake Sinclair- Lab Tested and approved - 02/21/16 09:40 AM
As soon as it's warm I let my dog go in the lake when we go out on her walk. Glen doesn't like to swim but he'll walk around a bit, but my LAB Laney, she loves the water.  She'd go in if it was 30 degrees outside if I let her.  Labs love Lake Sinclair. Does your fur kid get to come to the lake? They'd really like it if you had a lake house. Just ask these two!
This isn't my photo, but it was used with permission. A past client of John Vadas at Lake Sinclair bought a great weekend … (10 comments)

lake sinclair: Lake Sinclair is not a corps of Engineers lake, it's owned by GA power - 08/16/15 02:31 PM

It is used for all types of recreation, people swim, boat, ski, jet ski, fish, picnic, sunbath on some of the beach areas.  But the primary purpose for the Lake Sinclair is to provide cooling water for Plant Branch located on Hwy. 441 where the waters of Little River come together with the main channel of the Oconee River.  The plant keeps Lake Sinclair full of water for the purpose of having water available for cooling the power plant.  Lake … (6 comments)

lake sinclair: Anticipation and Relaxation - 08/04/15 02:26 PM
You know that saying about a watched pot never boils? Well I'm beginning to think that a watched package never ships.  Last week I ordered a new camera and some lenses. I am totally excited and it went from NJ to Maryland today.  When I ordered it I was expecting it to be here by today.  Oh wait, it's after midnight so I guess it was actually supposed to be here yesterday.  And if it was in Maryland yesterday then I don't think today is looking good either.
I have a new listing I'd love to get some great photos of with my new … (19 comments)

lake sinclair: Why Lake Sinclair is the best lake to buy a home on - 08/03/15 11:43 AM
Lake Sinclair, Georgia's best kept secret, with the exception of planned draw downs (one of which is scheduled for this October) by Georgia Power that occur every few years for shoreline maintenance and dam re-certificiation stays at or near full pool.  Many of Georgia's lakes are more than 10 feet below level.  That means many of Georgia's lakes have docks that are out of the water.
Of course you don't have to just take my word for it, there is an offical site that posts the levels daily.  The National weather service service maintains this information on their site and it is generally posted for … (6 comments)

And I love this lake and love to share information about my lake with potential buyers.  I am glad they can tell from my blog, my website and my voice on the phone that I really LOVE Lake Sinclair.

lake sinclair: Lake Sinclair by the numbers... Information about Lake Sinclair - 08/21/14 03:42 AM
First I need to say Thank you to Sandra Hudson, the Putnam County Lake Sinclair Georgia Power rep who spent a considerable amount of time looking up different things for me to come up with most of this data.  She was awesome, patient, answered a lot of questions and looked up a lot of stuff for me to be able to pass along this information to you.
I'm going to start with a chart that shows you which county has the most Lake Sinclair properties.

As you can see approximately 46% of the lots/homes on Lake Sinclair are in … (15 comments)

lake sinclair: Lane Realty and our guiding principles - 03/13/14 02:06 AM

Weltanschauung: the guiding principles and philosophy of an organization; a world view
I've spent a lot of time thinking about this post.  I know what my firm's guiding principles are, putting it into words is a little harder than I thought.  And there are some parts of our internal mission statement, methods and ideology that I won't be sharing because, well... you tell outsiders everything that's in your "secret family recipe", now do you?
But there are some things that I will share with you.
As the broker I take responsibility for all our firm's transactions I take responsibility for the actions of … (7 comments)

lake sinclair: Lake Sinclair- Georgia's Best Kept Secret - 10/15/13 07:14 AM

Why would you want to live at Lake Sinclair?  Well the best reason I can think of is the peacefulness!  You can't tell me that you don't feel peaceful if you sit and look at this photograph for a minute and then close your eyes.  Can't you feel the warmth from the setting sun?  Can't you imagine the birds chirping and the occasional fish jumping.  The sound of the wind as it crosses the water and little tiny ripples form.
When you sit out on your dock on Lake Sinclair you can certainly expect that a couple of fishermen will … (7 comments)

lake sinclair: Lake Sinclair clean up day Wednesday October 9, 2013 - 10/04/13 05:40 AM

On Wednesday when volunteers will be meeting at Plant Branch to participate in a Lake Sinclair clean up day I, like many of you, will be working.  But I have thought about what I can do to help.  I love Lake Sinclair and I make my living selling homes on and around Lake Sinclair.  So I have decided that I'm going to go to the community boat ramp/dock in my community and clean up there after work prior to next Wednesday.
And I invite anyone who reads this and lives or plays on Lake Sinclair to do two things to help.  … (7 comments)

lake sinclair: Just a little information about Lake Sinclair - 09/08/13 02:15 PM
Lake Sinclair was completed in 1953 and belongs to and is controlled by Georgia Power.  It also has a dam on the north end of the lake that backs up Lake Oconee.  This sister lake is why and how our lake stays full in drought situations.  Water is pumped back and forth between the lakes on a daily basis.
The main flow of water for Lake Sinclair is the water from the Oconee River, but many smaller rivers and creeks also flow into Lake Sinclair:
Little River Murder Creek Crooked Creek Cedar Creek Potato Creek Buck Creek Rooty Creek Cold Branch … (6 comments)

lake sinclair: Lake Sinclair homes for sale... where do I find them? - 04/23/13 04:55 AM
Where do you find homes for sale on Lake Sinclair?  Why Lane Realty's website of course!
Don't know much about Lake Sinclair?  Well here is a short history. And most importantlly you will need to know it is NOT a core of engineers lake and we have less rules about the fee simple land surrounding the lake.  You can cut the trees to open your view if you like, no rules to stop you.  And we have levels that vary in our lake, but not more than about 2 feet per day, so you will always have water at your … (8 comments)

lake sinclair: Spring is about to pop - 04/07/13 02:01 PM

Yes, this could be your view from the living room.  You just have to call me and I'll take you there.  I was sort of smitten with it myself, but it's not in the county where my office is so I just can't buy this lake house.
Of course if you prefer a quieter cove home, I can take you there too.  Just give me a call and let me know what you are looking for in a lake house and someone at Lane Realty will help you find your dream lake home.
