One morning not too long ago when we'd treated out back fenced area for pests and kept out dogs out of that area for three days I didn't check to make sure the gate was closed and just opened the door and out bounded both my dogs. That always puts me into a panic. So when I say we "never" let our dogs out without being in the fence or a leash, things happen all the time.

Back in July when I wrote about the detour and the paper said the road would be closed until October I really never believed it would take that long. And frankly I think they must have worked for an hour in the morning, had a two hour break, worked for an hour, had lunch, then played cards all afternoon. I mean the road was closed, it's not like we could drive down there and see what they were doing.

When I got to my office this morning it took me my surprise to see a "traffic jam". Some days I don't even see another car on the road in the mornings. And we rarely see a traffic jam of any sort. It wasn't long before I saw the DOT and GA Power trucks and new it was a construction delay.

I feel like I'm in a slumber today, like someone came and robbed my coffee of it's caffeine last night while I was sleeping. I keep on drinking it and I just keep feeling sleepy today. Maybe it's my body clock getting ready for the time change at the end of the week.

Here we go again- last time the local schools closed in Putnam County it was due to water issues and figid temperatures, but no snow. This time they are watching the weather and calling for as much as two to four inches of now. I know I wouldn't want my child on a school bus in the snow.
So how do you know if your central Georgia school is open?

Multiple times this year I have seen on the news were law enforcement officers have stuck by cars in the line of duty. A friend of my daughter who is an EMT and firefighter was struck the past July. He is going to survive, but his career and life were forever changed. Sad, he's one of the lucky ones who got to live. It's not just a suggestion to move over when you see emergency lights in Georgia, it's THE LAW.

The weather forecast is changing. Freezing temeratures are just around the corner. The low at Lake Sinclair is going to be in the 30s both Friday and Saturday. It's going to be a short cold snap and it will be re-bounding to the 40s by Sunday night, but it's that reminder that winter is just around and the corner and there are things you need to get done to keep your property taken care of at Lake Sinclair. psa: 2013- No scheduled drawdown for Lake Sinclair

Twice today, once by email and once someone who walked into our office have told me there is a scheduled draw-down for Lake Sinclair. Well it's a Georgia Power owned lake so I called Georgia Power and not only is there no draw-down this month there isn't even one scheduled for the foreseeable future.
When they do occur it's a wonderful time for lake property owners to do work around their seawall and docks. It's much easier to brace up permanent dock or do seawall repairs when the water is down. And you can pull weeds and clean up trash on the bottom … (4 comments)

Dennis Station Road between Twin Bridges Road and Old Milledgeville Highway will be closed on Thursday Septemter 12, 2013 from 9 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. And Twin Bridges Road will be closed at the RR crossing near Dennis Station Road on Friday September 13, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
You can call Norfolk Southern at 404-529-1387 to confirm. RR retooling work will be going on in this area for approximately three months.

A month ago today my daughter's co-worker a Macon Bibb firefighter and EMT, Sgt. Eric John was injured on the job. He is still in ICU. Thankfully he is making progress and will recover. I truly cannot believe that summer has slipped by with the quickness it has. As a child I was always anxious to get back to school to see my friends I had been missing. Frankly I always liked school and still do.

Lake Sinclair has had more than it's share of fatalities in the past few years. Be safe, learn the laws, follow the laws and remember you can get a BUI just like you can get a DUI. Rangers and deputies are out there patrolling the lakes and watching for illegal behavior.
There are also new legal alcohol limits on boaters as of May of this year. And every child under the age of 13 MUST be wearing a life vest when the boat is in operation.

If you read my blog posts you likely know that my 25 year old daughter is a paramedic and that my Donald is in law enforcement. Both are constantly on the road. Do I worry? Yes, of course I do. They both have dangerous jobs.

Recently some of our former clients found a sweet poodle:
He needs a loving home. They already have a couple of dogs and don't want to keep him.
But they aren't prepared to take him to the shelter.
He weighs 14 pounds and is about 5-6 years old. We took him to the vet and he is now current on all his shots. He does not have heartworms or any other problem. He is neutered.
