luxury real estate agent and company branding: Branding Moment: A Rose by any Other Name is Julio Iglesias! - 12/27/21 09:32 PM
A Rose by any other Name would smell as Sweet!  ~William Shakespeare

Yesterday morning, we went out to look at bare root roses to replace one that did not do well.  We both love roses and are familiar with all their names.

A brand name is like pollen to a bee, a bird or an insect.  A perfect brand attracts the right person to it, and will repel another who is not right for it.

Some people would be inclined to buy the Julio Iglesias Rose pictured on the upper part of the card on the right side of the photo.  One could … (56 comments)

luxury real estate agent and company branding: When Prestige Supersedes Competence... - 06/26/17 10:42 PM

In a listing presentation, when you are up against a competitor whose company brand is not perceived to be as “prestigious” as yours you may have an invisible handicap that has nothing whatsoever to do with your own competence as an agent. In luxury real estate marketing, perception often supersedes competence.

luxury real estate agent and company branding: Know Your Architecture! - 05/11/15 10:16 PM

As a luxury real estate marketing professional it would be a good idea to network with some local architects for mutual referral purposes.  Also, the more you know about the architectural styles that are in your marketplace the greater your chances will be for acquiring listings of prestigious homes that are architecturally significant.

We were inspired to write about this after looking up at the awe-inspiring Chrysler Building in New York, built in the Art Deco style. It reminded us that specializing in listing and selling architecturally prominent homes makes for great niche marketing. Know your architecture!

One of the most common mistakes that luxury real estate marketing professionals make is trying to be all things to all people.  Focus is mission critical in marketing luxury real estate and in company and personal branding as well. If you can focus on a specific niche, whether it is a neighborhood, or a demographic or a type of property and also be the best in your marketplace in that one niche, your chances of success will improve exponentially.

Our Saturday mornings usually begin with a trip to the Saturday Farmers Market in Santa Barbara.  We love seeing what ithe newest bounty in vegetables is.  Eggplants of every color and variety graced this farmer's table.  He was telling us that each eggplant had a distinct taste and was better suited for certain dishes.  For instance, the big light purple ones made great eggplant parmesan.  I took his word and bought some and made the dish.  He was right the eggplant tasted creamy and delicious.
Just like brands, each one has its market and specialty, and it remind me of … (10 comments)
