luxury real estate websites: Monday Musings: Details Will Make or Break You! - 12/15/19 12:15 PM

Pictured above is the ceiling detail of a mixed use building is the downtown area in Santa Barbara.  In our opinion, this is just one of the reasons all the condos in the building sold out in record time.
In the successful organization, no detail is too small to escape close attention

We are firm believers in the importance of details, when it comes to presenting oneself in a selling situation.  Those little details will make or break you every time.  In selling or listing luxury real estate or any other type of real estate, you are being trusted to represent either the … (52 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Branding Moment: Answering Prayers with Happy Feet! - 12/03/19 02:47 PM

Marketing done right is an answer to someone’s prayers.  This is as true for marketing luxury real estate as it is for marketing products and other services.

An ad, whether online or in print, should focus on addressing the pain point of its target audience.  It should have a message that is so clearly stated that even if the reader or listener is not the target market, they can easily tell someone else about the product or the service.  Here is an example:

Pictured above is a brand of shoes, I recently discovered.  I was enchanted by the French words (L'Amour Des Pieds) translates as  The … (35 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Speechless Sunday: Discovering Your Inner Bond or Bondette! - 07/13/14 03:42 AM

Aston Martin was offering test drives to guests of the Bacara Hotel yesterday.   They were also promoting their trip to Concours D'Elegance at Pebble Beach. They have a special trip planned for those who want to participate and drive from the Reno Airportt to the Pebble Beach hotel and golf course, where the Concours D'Elegance witll take place.  The cost is $9500.
In most of the Bond films, the Aston Martin car was featured with all the extra gadgets and gismos done by "Q".   In SkyFall, the iconic Aston Martin DB 9 made its return.

luxury real estate websites: The Triumph of Substance Over Hype - Part 3 - 07/01/14 12:24 AM

This year the NBA Champions, the San Antonio Spurs, made basketball history by beating the Heat in 4 of the 5 games with a margin of 15 or more points. Essentially, The Spurs’ winning formula is unselfishly and continuously passing the ball until it reaches the player who can take the great vs. the good shot. This methodology requires ALL players to trust ALL teammates completely and also resist the temptation (especially for the marquee players) to take over the game and be THE HERO.

In our opinion, this was a triumph of substance (Spurs) over hype (Heat) where … (13 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Friday Fun: Maiden Voyage of a Beauty - 06/20/14 03:28 AM

This morning as we set foot on the sand at Sandlyland Beach, in Carpinteria, we noticed from a distance a  sleek black boat being brought in from the ocean.  From a distance, it looked like a gondola.
As we approached several minutes later, we saw the boat.  What a beauty and a work of art...an all wood boat.  The owner and his toddler towheaded son approached us and told us, it was the maiden voyage of this boat.
Wishing you  a lovely Friday.

luxury real estate websites: Luxury Real Estate Marketing Tip: The Triumph of Substance Over Hype! - 06/17/14 03:17 AM

In watching the NBA finals, and the widely unexpected results of the San Antonio Spurs beating the Heat, we were amused how the sportscasters are now embracing the concept that the coach of the Spurs, Greg Popovitch, had instilled in his team.  Keep passing the ball and look for the “great” shot instead of the “good” one.   The result of his “good to great” strategy has ushered a new era in the sport of basketball, “the triumph of substance over hype!”
The Heat had their big three superstars, all great players in their own right.  In our opinion, they expected … (19 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Speechless Sunday: Happy Father's Day! Honor Your Fathers & Your Kids! - 06/15/14 02:34 AM

We took this picture at the Foley Estates winery yesterday afternoon.  In our minds, the tractor symbolizes the work that fathers traditionally do to take care of their families.  The flowers around the tractor represented for us the visionary side of fatherhood.
Our fathers had the agony of having kids who were bound and determined to do it their way, regardless of the advice they were given...They both shook their heads time after time, but they were both men of vision and stood behind us.  They both were willing to honor their kids.  And for that, we both are immensely appreciative...

luxury real estate websites: Where we are today is where we are today: Ready for Tomorrow - 06/10/14 02:47 AM

Endre Barath’s contest/challenge for June asks us to describe the event that led us to where we are today.  We both are of the opinion that every event in our lives no matter how insignificant or significant has led us to where we are today.  Whatever happened led us to the next logical step and not a single event.

We both are of the opinion that a life is like a mosaic work of art.  What may seem plain uninteresting tiles in the art complement the brighter ones.  One needs the other to complete the whole picture.  We understand … (22 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Speechless Sunday: Two Views of the Coral Tree - 05/04/14 02:34 AM

Yesterday we were in Beverly Hills, and on our way home we take a shortcut via Holmby Hills, one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in Los Angeles.  As we passed Holmby Park, we stopped the car to take a picture of this magnificent coral tree.
This is a close up of the same tree.  We both have loved the coral trees and enjoy the sculptural aspect of its flowering.  Our home in Brentwood (Los Angeles) was north of San Vicente Boulevard, where the whole boulevard is lined with these beautiful specimens.  At one time, some silly city officials suggested … (16 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Luxury Real Estate Marketing: How Do I Find My Niche? - 05/01/14 02:48 AM

As we have been sharing the series on how to dominate your niche, we are getting many comments essentially asking, “How do I Find My Niche?” Here is one aspect to finding one’s niche.
The first one is what we call the broader perspective, as if you were viewing the possibilities from the International Space Station (pictured above). This is known as outside in thinking, or viewing real estate from the client’s perspective.  From that viewpoint, what is something that is missing in your real estate community? What or where are the needs not being met?   That is known as … (18 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Speechless Sunday in Los Angeles with Ron & Alexandra - 02/09/14 06:02 AM

We have been researching good dim sum places in the vicinity of Santa Barbara.  Our first experience was at a Japanese restaurant in Goleta (15mns North of us).  It was good not great.  Then we did two stints in Los Angeles Chinatown, and one in the San Gabriel Valley, which again could not meet or even come near the standards we got accustomed to at San Francisco's Yank Sing.  As a matter of fact, we were disappointed.
We just had to find decent dim sum and we did, BAO, is located in the perfect neighborhood in Los Angeles.  The raves … (16 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Saturday Smiles: Tulips for Your Valentine! - 02/08/14 08:02 AM

Just in time our flower growers in Carpinteria, are regaling us with tulips for Valentine's Day!  Each color is gorgeous, and they are a long lasting flower.
To get the longest vase life, according to almanac.com  "cut tulip stems diagonally, then wrap the upper two-thirds of the flowers in a funnel of newspaper and stand them in cool water for an hour or two. Then, recut the stems and the tulips will last at least a week."

luxury real estate websites: Saturday Smiles: California Grown Papayas, GMO's & Beefsteak Tomatoes - 02/08/14 02:28 AM

We have a beautiful sunny day here.  The Saturday Farmers Market in Santa Barbara was sparse today, many farmers decided to take this Saturday off.  Everyone deserves time off.
One of our favorite treats is papayas, and there is a guy in Santa Barbara who grows them here, and they are organic.  It reminds us of Hawaii when GMO (genetically modified) papayas were unknown.  Now the majority of papaya grown in Hawaii are GMO's.
Even some of the organic farms in Hawaii are finding that 5% of  their crops have been contaminated by GMO seeds.  According to Dr. Pang, … (9 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Saturday Smiles: Giant Antheriums - 02/07/14 11:37 PM

Last Saturday at the Santa Barbara Farmers market I noticed these giant antheriums that are grown in Carpinteria.  We loved the colors and wanted to share them with you. And we are off to the market after breakfast, wishing you all a delightful day!

luxury real estate websites: Friday Fun: A French Twist on an American Favorite! - 02/07/14 07:00 AM

Many of us love the combined flavor of peanut butter and chocolate.  Yesterday, afternoon we were purchasing a favorite Pinot Noir, Cargasacchi Pinot. This Pinot is bottled only in half bottles because the Jalama Vineyard it comes from is a small one and produces a unique flavor due to its proximity to the ocean breezes...
Jane, our Carpinteria Wine Company expert, had the usual box of chocolate treats for her customers from her next door neighbor, Cali Bresson. We looked in and saw something new--koi fish?
Jean Michel Carre, owner and chocolate maker, had created a new treat  pictured above. … (10 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Luxury Real Estate Marketing Tips: A Sense of Community - 01/15/14 09:06 PM

A sense of community can be the deciding factor for buyers of luxury real estate.  Of course, if that community is a cluster of a multi-million dollar ski-in, ski out homes in one the most prestigious ski resorts in the world, that doesn’t hurt.
One of the most charming communities we have ever encountered can be found along the Last Chance run in Deer Valley.  What these homes have in common is woodcarvings of animals and Native Americans on display for all to see as they ski by.

One of the homes features raccoons.  Another has bears skiing … (32 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Speechless Sunday: And Lots of Penguins on Your Christmas Tree - 12/14/13 10:14 PM

We saw this delightful tree at the children's Discovery Museum, yesterday morning, prior to heading home to sunny California...Sadly we had weather issues as our flight was coming in from Chicago, where winter storms were causing havoc.
After waiting for 2+ hours, we finally boarded our flight to Houston not knowing if we were going to catch the LA connector, and we did not.  We opted to head to Oakland rather than spend the night in Houston, where weather was a possibility for the next day...and then catch the shuttle to LA....yes we missed that one also, because tons … (17 comments)

luxury real estate websites: Saturday Smiles: Shine Like a Diamond - 12/13/13 09:07 PM
As we drove to the beach, we were listing to Rhianna's song, "Shine like a Diamond".  The late afternoon soon on the ocean was indeed making the droplets shine like diamonds.  Wishing everyone a wonderful Saturday.

luxury real estate websites: Marketing Luxury Real Estate: The Promise of a New Leaf - 12/13/13 09:36 AM

Ron took a pidture of our Japanese maple tree.  This tree has lived in Los Angeles, moved to Napa, and now resides in Carpinteria with us.  We noticed that among all the dead leaves, a new leaf has come forth fresh and new.  Every day, we have the opportunity to turn a new leaf, from the old leaves, and isn't that the ultimate luxury?
Happy Friday, Cheers, Ron & Alexandra
