Brentwood homes sales for November 2011 increased 9.5 percent with 46 closings compared to 42 closings for November of 2012, the average sales price of Brentwood homes increased 13 percent compared to last year. Aveage days on market was virtually unchanged at 110 days compared to 108 days. I am always amazed at people who are moving to Nashville, and don't really have a plan on how to make the most of the opportunities that Nashville has to offer. If I get the opportunity to help, I start out by asking what I think are basic questions. Where will you be working? Nashville is spread out and it can be very time consuming to drive across the city to work every day. Nashville home sales for January 2011 had 918 home closings reported for the month, according to the Greater Nashville Association of REALTORS®. This is a 11 percent from the 821 closings reported for January last year. The median residential price for Nashville single-family homes during January was $165,500 compared to $159,000 in January of 2010, an increase of 4 percent. Nashville homes inventory was 12,595 compared to 13,414 in January of 2010, an inventory decrease of 6.5 percent. Wordless Wednesday - I was invited to see It's a Wonderful Life" at the Belcourt Cinema recently, and I was surprised to see this Historical marker on the building. I knew it had been around for years, but not this long. Kudos for those who fought to save it.

Tennessee has a great business climate and now ranks number 2 behind North Carolina and ahead of Texas. It may not surprise anyone that these three states seem to be the top choices for businesses moving from states that punish business with high taxes and laws that favor unions. Octoberfest in the historic Germantown area of north Nashville will be held on Saturday October 9th. Let hope that we continue to have this fabulous weather. As German customs dictate, beer is abundant. For complete adherence to German customs, large (64 oz?) beer steins are available for purchase and fill-up. Tennessee has requested and received a 30-day extension of deadlines for FEMA assistance programs that will assist individuals in the 46 counties eligible for Individual Assistance as a result of the flooding that struck the state, according to Governor Phil Bredesen. "I'm extremely pleased people will have more time to register to get the help they need as Tennessee recovers from these historic and devastating floods," said Bredesen. FEMA has approved the state's request to extend the registration deadline for Individual Assistance to Aug. 5.
