Flower Garden Quilts and Hand Painted Quilts
Adorn Elkhart County.
Each year, volunteers gather for the annual Quilt Garden Tour. Twenty gardens with over 150,000 annuals have been planted, for the 2014 Quilt Garden Tour, which will be on display throughout Elkhart County until October 1st. Each quilt measures between 800 and 3200 sq ft and the hand painted Quilt Art displays are approximately 19 sq ft, with the largest being 448 sq ft.

Elkhart will soon include, Penn Station East Coast Subs as an option for delicious sub sandwiches. At the corner of Cassopolis Street (SR 19), and County Road 6, just south of I-80/90, the establishment will be included in the new shopping center, The Shoppes on Six.
Created in 1985, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the restaurant features Sub Sandwiches with a choice of Smoked Ham, Roasted Turkey Breast, Chicken, or Tuna Salad. Party Trays of 16 are available for gatherings.

The newest retail development on the north side of Elkhart is going to feature a shopping and eating center, that will expand the existing shopping area. The first faze, in addition to the Verizon Store, will feature one of my favorites, Dunkin Donuts. As you can see, they are almost finished, complete with a drive-in window.

Havilah Beardsley, a physician, purchased land form an Indian Chief named "Chief Pierre Moran" for $1,500. and founded the city of Elkhart where the St. Joseph River and the Elkhart River meet. The island at that location, looked like an Elk's Heart, so he named the town Elkhart.
While in the area, he built the home overlooking the river and then built Saw mills and flour mills. In 1850, he brought the railway to the area and further, donated some land for machine shops, used by the railroad.

The Trolley, a bus that looks like a historic trolley, has saved a lot of heartache for those folks that have transportation problems, going to the grocery stores, shopping, downtown Elkhart and Goshen, as well as, to Ivy Tech College and Goshen College. Jeremy Stutsman and his wife Maija, purchase a building in downtown Goshen, Indiana with the intentions of remodeling it to house his wife's fitness studio. After 17 months, she was able to open the "Live Out Loud Health and Fitness Studio. The building also has a physical therapist, a yoga studio, a spa, a masseuse, a nutritionist and a salon.
