The Midwest Museum of American Art,
located in downtown Elkhart, IN.
The Midwest Museum of American Art, is open to the public, with well known American artists works on display. The museum features 19th and 20th Century American Art, which includes Grandmas Moses and Norman Rockwell. The Rockwell exhibit includes a huge collection of hand signed lithographs and brings over 6,000 pieces in the permanent collection. You can see approximately 900 on Display at any time during the year.

The 38th Elkhart Juried Regional
The 2016 Elkhart Juried Regional was kicked off last night with a reception for the selected artists from 22 Counties in northern Indiana and southern Michigan. The juried items will be on display from October 7 through December 4, 2016. Purchase awards were presented at the reception, with many of the remaining works of art available for sale at the museum.
This will be my third consecutive year, participating in the event. My painting, "The Elkhart Railroad Depot" is an Acrylic painting on stretched canvas and measures 24" x 36".

The Lerner Theatre, formerly the ELCO, was renovated in recent years to its current glory in downtown Elkhart, Indiana.
Every year the Midwest Museum of American Art hosts the Juried Regional Art Show, held at the museum. The regional area includes 22 counties from northern Indiana and Southern Michigan and is known to be the the highest cash awards show in the State of Indiana. Judging started today, September 28th, for the hundreds of residents from 18 Counties in Indiana and 4 Counties in Michigan. The Fine Art consists of Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Photography, Sculpture, Ceramic, Mixed Media and Fiber.
The Midwest Museum of American Art presents The 36th Elkhart Juried Regional 2014, and offers the largest Cash Awards in the State of Indiana, with Awards of over $20,000! Beside the $1200 Best of Show Purchase award, there will be purchase awards pledged by Companies, Individuals and families around the area.

One of the Exhibits on display at the Midwest Museum of American Art is the made in America: 35 Years of Best of Show. In 1979 the museum designed a way for local artist to show, sell and compete for recognition with their works of art. It became a major event for those artists participating in awards and prize money.

This is the time of year to visit Historical places and exhibits inside, such as the Midwest Museum of American Art, in Elkhart, Indiana.
On a recent tour by members of the Elkhart MLS, we had the opportunity to visit and admire the thousands of artwork on display from many local artists to Norman Rockwell and Grandma Moses.

Our local MLS made a decision to learn more about the County we live in. "WINS OF CHANGE" started last year, 2012. The committee rented a tour bus with the intention of being able to intellegently tell new home buyers what is available in the County. If we don't know, how can we convince people to move here. The first of seven places we visited this year was the "Midwest Museum of American Art." I videoed all seven visits and donated it to the Elkhart County Library.
