statistics: nwRealty Web Trends for Spring 2008 - 05/27/08 08:56 AM
Spring 2008 update of traffic trends for Washington real estate web sites as observed by third party monitors at compete.com.  So far this season most sites received about the same number of visits as this time last year.  We are VERY pleased that our growth continued to improve in April when others experienced a significant drop.
Washington Only Real Estate Sites:This data does a good jog of demonstrating the seasonal "post holiday" spike that occurs every January ... followed by a short slump in February before the spring season gets going in late March.
My Crystal Ball:Compete.com provides about 4 weeks of relative growth data for the month … (0 comments)

statistics: WA Web Site Trends Spring 08 - 05/27/08 08:06 AM
My last web trend report was posted in January so this post reflects the end of our winter season and the beginning of the spring buying season.  The websites below are for companies based in Washington that also cross the border into other states (mostly in the western states).  You'll recognize the names and know that they have very substantial Internet marketing budgets.
Multi-State Sites:Even with the mortgage meltdown and decline in sales most sites finished the month of April very near their traffic levels a year ago.
My Crystal Ball:Since the month of May is nearly over there are several weeks of data available … (0 comments)

statistics: WA Web Site Trends Dec 07 - 01/11/08 10:06 AM
This report compares websites for companies based in Washington that also cross the border into other states (mostly in the western states).
Multi-State Sites:Most sites reflect the traditional holiday drop off that occurs seasonally every year.  redfin.com was able to pick up a gain in traffic while most other sites decreased by 13% - 26% compared with November counts.

Thanks for stopping by!  We'll have January reports in a few weeks.

statistics: nwRealty Web Trend for Dec 2007 - 01/11/08 09:52 AM
Update of traffic trends for Washington real estate web sites as observed by third party monitors at compete.com.  For the month of December, most sites display a drop of between 13% and 26%.
Washington Only Real Estate Sites:The decline of traffic for the larger sites reflects the traditional holiday slump.  It is a pleasant surprise to see the smaller sites experienced an increase of traffic traffic.

Reports for January should be available in a couple weeks.  Thanks for stopping by!

statistics: WA Web Site Trends Nov 07 - 12/17/07 05:35 AM
This report compares websites for companies based in Washington that also cross the border into other states (mostly in the western states).
Multi-State Sites:Most sites reflect the seasonal drop that occurs every year during the holidays.  johnlscott.com managed to hold rather steady while briorealty.com actually increased their rate of visitors.

statistics: nwRealty Web Trend for Nov 2007 - 12/17/07 05:26 AM
Here's our update of traffic trends for Washington real estate web sites as observed by third party monitors.  Contrary to this report, our server logs actually recorded about a 3% increase of visitors and page views.  But I'm still convinced that compete.com provides the most accurate reports.
Washington Only Real Estate Sites:The decline of monitored sites demonstrated on the graph below reflects the anticipated seasonal drop.

Reports for December should be available in a couple weeks.  Thanks for stopping by!

statistics: WA Web Site Trends Oct 07 - 11/19/07 08:11 AM
This data compares websites for companies based in Washington that also cross the border into other states (mostly in the western states).
Multi-State Sites:The Windermere and Redfin sites held steady while the other sites slipped somewhat.  It always surprises me when the Windermere and John L. Scott sites behave oppositely.  They are so very close in many aspects.  The usual seasonal trend predicts a substantial drop from now until January.  It will be interesting to see how this graphs out for the rest of 2007.

statistics: nwRealty Web Trend for October 2007 - 11/17/07 07:50 AM
I'm late again in updating traffic trends for Washington real estate web sites as observed by third party monitors.  YIPPEE!!! This report reflects our site at http://www.nwrealty.com/ has again surpassed the on-line patronage of the NWMLS public website.
Washington Only Real Estate Sites:Beside our minor leap to the forground, most other sites held rather steady in their traffic counts.
Reports for November should be available in a couple weeks.  Thanks for stopping by!

statistics: Web Trends of WA Power Sites for September 2007 - 10/30/07 07:36 AM
This data was released a couple of weeks ago and compares websites for companies based in Washington that also cross the border into other states (mostly in the western states).
Multi-State Sites:The Windermere and Redfin sites slipped somewhat while the other sites continued at a rather level rate.  I suspect that results procured by Redfin's recent infusion of venture capital will spike later in the year from strategic planning of advertising expenditures.  While most sites should level off for the month of October, early data indicates that Briorealty will continue with their current growth trend ... maybe even surpassing Redfin.

statistics: nwRealty Web Trend for September 2007 - 10/30/07 07:15 AM
I fell a little behind in updating traffic trends for Washington real estate web sites as observed by third party monitors.  This report was released a couple of weeks ago and reflects our site at http://www.nwrealty.com/ catching up to the on-line patronage of the NWMLS public website.  Unlike the previous month, this report coincides with our Google Analytics and other statistical tools reporting a modest increase of growth.
Washington Only Real Estate Sites:The NWMLS public site lost a little ground allowing our growth to catch up.  The CB Bain sites continued there steady trend ofincreased growth.  Early indicators for the month of October project that our site and the CB Bain site will … (1 comments)

statistics: August Web Trends - OUCH! - 09/14/07 07:19 AM
Observations of Washington real estate states by third party monitors were released this week and my prediction of traffic flow leveling off for our regions leading real estate sites was only halfway fulfilled.  Unfortunately, our site at http://www.nwrealty.com/was reported with others as experiencing a decline in on-line patronage.
For the record, our Google Analytics and other statistical tools report a decline of only 4.96%.  But tools like these are all that is available for comparing the performance of competing websites.
Washington Only Real Estate Sites:Our dominance over the NWMLS public site was short lived (hope I didn't boast too loud).  The NWMLS and CB Bain … (0 comments)

statistics: Real Estate Website Trends In The Pacific Northwest - 09/03/07 09:44 AM
In a previous post I used tools at compete.com to compare traffic rankings of the websites for companies based in Washington State.  The websites are broken down into two categories:  (1) those serving up NWMLS listing data only and (2) those serving up listing data from multiple states.  I haven't found anyone challenging result from compete.com and below are updated graphs for the month of July (made available mid-August).
1. NWMLS ONLY WEBSITES
We're the blue line and very please with our increased traffic.  Most of the other sites display a gradual increase of traffic, which may seem unusual.  We're accustomed to seeing more … (1 comments)

statistics: Google Analytics - compare to past feature - 08/18/07 07:04 AM
Viewing the Google Analytics reports of our web statistics is my first task of every day.  A valuable feature is comparing the current time frame to the past.  Specifically, I like to compare the current 4 week period with that of the previous month.
I.E. today i'm looking at comparative reports ending on the third Saturdays of July and August.  This tells me that our traffic slipped a little bit this week but is otherwise keeping pace with July for end of week online visits.
I just wish Google would allow me to save this report.  It isn't the easiest thing to generate … (9 comments)

statistics: Google Analytics Hickup? - 07/30/07 05:31 AM
Any Google Analytics users have data reporting from yesterday?  My heart stopped this morning when I saw  ZERO visits reported for July 29th (yesterday).
I checked the Google Analytics Blog and the only post potentially relevant was from last Wednesday the 25th ... regarding the upgrade and final retirement of the old software version.
The Google Analytics Forum is starting to receive posts of others having the same problem.  Too early to tell if this is limited to only a few of their data centers or if it is system wide.
We experienced a dramatic drop in visits Saturday so I suspect Googles data … (2 comments)

statistics: Cool Tool II (Best in the northwest) - 07/23/07 09:55 AM
While exploring the tools shared in a previous post I discovered another useful tool at www.compete.com that allows you to graph comparative ranking reports from competing sites.  What sets this tool apart is their full disclosure of how rankings are established (unlike alexa, neilson, etc.).  So we may not agree with the results, but at least we know how they were attained.
I feel good just to have our info in compete.com's system because they only maintain data from the top 1,000,000 sites.  Not bad company when you consider that today there are just over 95 million active domains to surf through.
So ... comparing apples … (4 comments)

statistics: 2007 Web Visitor Trend - 07/23/07 07:45 AM
As always, I monitor web traffic stats daily.  This morning I took a long look at agrigated stats for usage of a little over 100 of our domains serving up MLS listings to the Western Washington market.  This is a rather well defined market so I'm curious how other markets compare.
Dec 26, 2006 thru Jan 2007 displayed the typical spike that I attribute to Buyers & Sellers who put their real estate needs on hold until after the Holidays. Spring 2007 got off to a realy soft start with traffic in March actually totalling less than that of January (really unusual).  But visitors picked back up … (2 comments)
