real estate: Submit your Real Estate blog posts to Puurple - 07/16/09 09:20 AM
For those of you familiar with Digg, Puurple looks very similar. The site allows you to post your favorite real estate stories and vote on them, just like Digg. Submitting your blog posts to Puurple will also help draw in more traffic to your site.
In all fairness, I must disclose that my husband Charles is a moderator on the site (aka spam killer). Posts not related to the real estate industry (mortgage, etc) will be removed. You will need to sign up for an account (it's free) in order to be able to submit and vote on stories.

real estate: New Mortgage Resource - 03/26/09 11:09 AM
I just read a post here on Active Rain about getting more links to help boost your ranking on search engines. By a strange coincidence, a friend of mine has started a new mortgage resource site. Right now he is looking for authors in the mortgage (and real estate) industry to write some consumer oriented articles about the mortgage industry.
This is a great way to gain additional links back to your own personal site as well as traffic. You can see my author's link here. There is also a real estate and mortgage directory that is accepting (for now) free … (1 comments)

real estate: What the market numbers really mean: Looking at Anthem Highlands - 02/16/09 10:49 AM
There has been a lot of talk about the state of the economy and the real estate market in general over the last several months. Reports of home prices falling, interest rates going down and when will the market "hit bottom". Over the last several days I've been looking at homes across the valley for a friend of ours. One of the areas he was interested in was Green Valley.
We ended up looking at Anthem, specifically homes in Anthem Highlands. We looked at a home listed at $212,000 that originally sold for just under $400,000. That is a great example … (0 comments)

real estate: Taking a tour of Laughlin - 01/03/09 03:39 PM
When people think of Nevada, they can't help but think of Las Vegas. If you took a poll of a random group of people, most would probably think Las Vegas is also the state capital (its not, Carson City is). So its no wonder that Laughlin is often overlooked. The community of Laughlin started off as a sleepy little town on the Arizona border by the Colorado river. Over the years the town grew into a prospering city with resorts, gaming and golf.
Unlike the Las Vegas market, the Laughlin real estate market was largely unaffected. A quick look at the … (1 comments)

real estate: A new blog - 11/03/08 03:49 AM
I couldn't resist the pull of Wordpress any longer and have launched a new WP blog covering Las Vegas Homes. As soon as I get a little comfortable with using WP, I'm going to make it a do follow blog as well and add in a few more plugins. Still on the fence as to which CMS I like better, Wordpress or Drupal. Each one has its advantages. I have more control over urls in Drupal than in Wordpress, although you can change them for both types of pages, like I did for this page about Las Vegas Senior Living. The … (4 comments)

real estate: Fuel prices and the real estate industry - 06/13/08 05:24 AM
Just a short time ago, we thought that paying over $3.00 a gallon for gas was too much. Now the average price across the US is over $4 per gallon and prices are still climbing. Rising fuel prices have become a topic of debate in the real estate industry and what impact they will have on the housing market. Aside from increased construction costs, other things that may be affected include resales of older homes, commute time, the type of communities being built and the level of service given to buyers (the days of driving around endlessly looking at homes may be … (10 comments)

real estate: Another reason behind the housing crunch - 03/18/08 02:29 PM
You may have seen this in the news (especially you live in Las Vegas). The state has formed a Mortgage Fraud Task Force to deal with the high number of foreclosures in Nevada (2nd in the nation :( ). There have been several scam artists arrested already this year, some for preying on homeowners facing foreclosure, another for embezzlement, but nothing compares to the latest. You can read the post here.
I did a google search and these types of cases are popping up all over the country. Upsetting to say the least. -Charles

real estate: The Mothership has landed - 03/14/08 02:31 PM
I'm always on the look out for unusual homes. This "spaceship" house just went up for auction. You can watch the local news video about the house. The home is located in Signal Mountain, Tennessee. I found a few more spaceship homes around the country as well, including a few Futuro homes designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen. Looks like the architect for the Tennessee house took some design ideas from him. -Charles

real estate: Green Valley, Nevada - 12/18/06 10:57 AM
Green Valley is a huge master planned community in Henderson, Nevada. The area became so popular that residents started stating that they lived in "green valley" not Henderson.  The difference is immediately apparent. Green Valley is just that---green.  Tree lined streets, parks, walking and bicyle trails, and a small town atmosphere make Green Valley a great place to work and live.
Residents of Green Valley have a huge selection of outdoor and cultural activities.  Each year Green Valley is home to several seasonal events, like Shakespeare in the Park.  There are also great after school programs for kids as well as public … (2 comments)

real estate: Active Rain Wish List - 12/11/06 09:23 AM
Just six months ago we joined Active Rain through an invitation from my friend, Glenn Ginsburg. At that time, there was just over 2,000 members.  You couldn't customize your profile, no one was in the forum at all and there were not many ways to organize anything. Fast forward to December 2006.
Now there is nearly 11,000 members.  While groups are still labeled "beta", I'm sure they are here to stay. I haven't been around much at all for the last month.  We're in the process of selling a rental property in Green Valley, remodeling and making preparations for our annual holiday … (3 comments)

real estate: MLX Professional - 12/08/06 12:58 PM
Today when Jacqui was signing into the Las Vegas MLS access site, she got a pleasant surprise.  A free upgrade to mlx professional. Basically its a customizable 3rd level domain off of the main site. You get to pick your site "name", so after several attempts I finally found one I liked. I wanted Las Vegas real estate, which I finally got a combination of. There are roughly half a dozen different templates you can choose from.
The site allows you to add your own text on the "home" page of the site and automatically pulls your listing data from the mls … (6 comments)

real estate: PubCon - 11/18/06 02:05 PM
This past week I've been absent for the most part because of the Las Vegas seo conference.  One of the big things that kept coming up as a reoccurring theme was information accessibility. Making a site accessable by everyone, regardless of browser, os, etc. During one of the sessions, there was a website owner from San Diego that wanted to have the best Chiropratic website on the web.   He told us about how one of his customers found him and gave him the best compliment he ever got. The customer was blind and was able to find his business because the … (4 comments)
