What happens when a community comes together?  A much loved program is saved! Since June, 2010 continuation of the Barnegat Police Department's K-9 unit was up in the air.  The Barnegat Officer and his dog that made up the K-9 unit had retired.  Some members of the public questioned the expenditure of tax dollars to continue the program and urged Barnegat to use the Ocean County K-9 unit, located 20 miles away in Toms River. The Barnegat Branch of the Ocean County Library is hosting it's semi annual Boutique Sale beginning today and running until Friday, November 5th.  The Boutique Sale is sponsored by the Friends of the Barnegat Library. The Friends of the Barnegat Library is a not for profit organization.  Its mission is to promote the Library’s programs and resources.  The FOL also provides funds to the Library so it may better serve the community.

 For 17 years, the first Saturday after Labor Day is Pirate's Day in Barnegat, NJ.  This year the date is September 11th.  There was some talk about changing the date because it's the anniversary of the terror attacks, but the date stands and Pirate's Day 2010 will start at 9am Saturday, September 11th with a special tribute and a moment of silence.It's then that the pirate themed activites begin!  The center of the daytime activities is Route 9 (Main Street) and East Bay Avenue.  There will be roaming pirates and … (4 comments)

Most Barnegat residents call the east end of Barnegat the bayfront or bayshore section of town.  It makes sense, it fronts the Barnegat Bay and the main drag is Bayshore Drive. The east end of Barnegat, NJ Well, the Barnegat Township Committee is considering calling that area of town 'Pirate's Peninsula'.  The chair of the Barnegat Economic Development Committee told the Committee that a name like 'Pirate's Peninsula' would be a nice draw for the restaurants, marinas, bay beach and public dock/boat launch.They'd like to get this informal name change before the 2nd Saturday in September...that's … (6 comments)

Of the 19 homes that sold in Barnegat during the month of April, 2009, 14 were single family homes.  The others were in adult communities.   Prices ranged from $181,000 in the Settlers Landing section of Barnegat for a 4 bedroom 1.5 baths to a waterfront that sold for $699,000.  That home has 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, 136 feet of bulkhead and bay views.

Check out Ocean County’s newest Park…the Cloverdale Farm County Park just off of West Bay Avenue, west past the Mirage Boulevard traffic light.

Tomorrow evening, November 9th from 7pm to 8pm, join a naturalist from the Ocean County Parks Department for a Full Moon Hike. The hike is only a mile and is open to both adults and kids (9 years or older).

Single family home sales in Barnegat, NJ remained relatively stable in August when compared to July, 2008.  But as is usually the case when the summer season comes to an end at the Jersey Shore, new listings nearly doubled.
While July, 2008 added only 50 new listings to the Township's inventory, August saw that figure jump to 105 new listings.

Single family homes sales dropped by 2 units in August over the previous month, but when compared to sales one year ago the fall off is big.  There were 22 sales in August, 2008 ranging in price from $124,000 to … (2 comments)

In July, 2008, 50 homes were added to Barnegat New Jersey's total single family homes for sale.  Those homes ranged from $89,900 (for a condo in short sale) to a $3.5 M bay front beauty. 
Total inventory of single family residential units for sale was 364.  There were 24 home sales in July, with prices ranging from $125,00 to $459,950.

barnegat nj: Barnegat High School Awards First Diplomas - 06/18/08 11:15 PM
For the first time since 1957, Barnegat Township High School seniors graduated in their own high school.  This week marked graduation day for seniors at the new Barnegat High School, which opened in 2004!
Prior to 1957, the old Barnegat Township High School served much of southern Ocean County.  It closed in '57 after Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin opened its doors.  There were 264 graduates this year from Barnegat Township High School School (pictured here).

BARNEGAT TOWNSHIP, OCEAN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY.  MAY, 2008 MARKET REPORT 
There were 84 new listings in May, that compared to 74 new lisitings in May, 2007.  That's a 20 unit increase in inventory over April 2008, but that's the way of the housing market at the Jersey Shore. 
Total inventory in Barnegat in May, 2008 was 377 residential housing units.  That's 10 more than we had in our April 2008 report.
New listing prices ranged between $153,900 and $1.2 million for a beautiful home on the Bay.
21 units sold in May 2008, with prices ranging from $136,200 to $362,000.  This compared to May 2007 … (2 comments)
