super storm sandy: State Supreme Court Boosts Long Beach Island Dune Replenishment Efforts - 07/11/13 10:11 PM
Beach replenishment at the Jersey Shore got a big boost this week when the State Supreme Court overruled a $375,000 award in a Harvey Cedars beach replenishment case, saying the project in fact provided benefits to the property owners.  A state appellate court had ruled last year that the borough pay $375,000 to the couple to compensate them for having a portion of their property taken for the Army Corps of Engineers beach replenishment project, partially obstructing their ocean view.
The Harvey Cedars beach project was completed in 2010.  But in other towns on Long Beach Island there are still property owners that refuse to … (2 comments)

The Jersey Shore Is Open...Watch for Our Ads!
It's just six months and a few days since super storm Sandy hit the Jersey Shore but we'll be open for business this summer, according to Governor Christie.
At a Town Hall meeting yesterday on Long Beach Island, the Governor outlined recovery efforts.  They include:
Jersey Shore dredging projects will begin in local waterways in mid-July after all boats and other debris are removed. Add to those difficulties, the new FEMA Advisory Base Flood Elevations (ABFL) and it leaves … (0 comments)

Manahawkin To Host Governor's Town Hall Meeting -
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has scheduled a Town Hall meeting in Manahawkin Wednesday, January 16.  While there is no agenda for this or any Town Hall meetings, local officials and residents are looking to discuss Super Storm Sandy clean up efforts and rebuilding.
Residents are wondering where and when the money is going to come from for rebuilding, and officials are looking for state assistance with clean up costs which in Manahawkin alone have exceeded $20 million.  There have been no estimates yet on the needed clean up of Stafford Township's lagoons.
Manahawkin is … (11 comments)
