Keep your stuff safe when selling your home
When preparing to put your house on the market, usually your main concern is making your home look as appealing as possible. Cleaning every corner, fixing what needs fixed, and making sure it is a home others would want to buy. With all that in mind, prioritizing the safety of your home while it is on the market can fall to the wayside until you are fully out of the home. Once you are moved in somewhere new, you may realize that you are worrying quite a bit about just how safe your home … (0 comments)

Where to eat in Cartlin Bay on Lake CDA
On a recent boat adventure with some girlfriends we stumbled across this small food truck at Carlin Bay called Latitudes. Carlin Bay is located in Harrison, East of Rockford Bay on Lake Coeur d' Alene. You can pull your boat right up to the dock, grab a bite and be back on the lake in no time or you can relax and hangout. There's plenty of seating if you wish to enjoy your meal lakeside before tooling around the lake again. I ordered Latitudes Lobster Roll. One of my favorites vacation spots is … (2 comments)

laurel jonas: Idaho Property Tax 101 - 04/19/21 08:54 PM
Idaho property tax 101
Idaho property taxes are very different than the neighboring states. First of all, property taxes in Idaho are also paid in arrears.  That means we don’t pay your property taxes for the current year until December 20th of that same year and then, you will only pay the first half of the year. It's a bit confusing. Taxes are collected and paid twice a year. Similar in most states, if you are getting a mortgage, when you receive your tax bill from the assessor's office, you don't need to pay it. Your lender will be rolling your estimated … (0 comments)

laurel jonas: Why People Are Refusing Dining Rooms - 04/19/21 08:49 PM
Why people are refusing dining rooms
More and more, we see families on the go. Dinners have evolved and formal dining is becoming a way of the past - or is reserved just for special occasions. With that in mind, we see more and more often that dining rooms are left untouched a mass majority of the year. Many people still have fully furnished dining rooms, for a few reasons. They may have been told they can’t sell their home without one, or they already have a dining set, or it just hadn’t occurred to them to not have one.
If you’re willing … (1 comments)

DIY projects for the entire family

Here are a few projects that are kid-friendly!
Painting a Room
While the final layer should be done by an adult, letting the kids help with the undercoat is a great way to include them. They will get to feel like they played a part in making … (3 comments)

laurel jonas: Under The Bed Storage - 04/19/21 08:23 PM
Under-bed storage is one of the best places to store winter or summer gear. Make sure you have enough space under your bed for some storage bins, and invest in a handful where you can neatly store away your off season wardrobe. If you don’t have under-bed space, invest in a few cascading hangers.
Extra Bedding
Vacuum storage bags are great to have if you are living in a small space. While you may not want to use them on your seasonal wardrobe, you can use these bags for extra bedding so you can store them easily when guests aren’t around.

laurel jonas: Kitchen Tiles and Accent Walls - 03/25/21 07:42 PM
Kitchen tiles accent walls
As simplified, clean styles continue to be the face of home design, there is no surprise that adding a tiled accent wall can be enough to bring life to a room without cluttering it with unnecessary decor.
Though they are all tiles, wall tiles differ from floor tiling. Wall tiles are usually thinner and made with less hard material, as they don’t need to withstand the pressure of flooring. Even though they may weigh less, wall tiles are still extremely durable.
Because there are all different sorts of shapes, sizes, and types of wall tiles, you are sure to find … (2 comments)

Home projects not to do yourself
We live in a DIY world. If there is a video online for how to do something, there’s a good chance you can figure out how to do it. laurel jonas: Maintaining A Concrete Driveway - 03/25/21 07:32 PM
Maintaining a concrete driveway
Concrete driveways are becoming more popular again, and there are plenty of reasons why. With a lifespan 10-15 years longer than asphalt, often lasting around 30-40 years, concrete is a worthy investment if you are willing to maintain it properly. If you’re considering making the investment or you already have concrete and want to make it last for decades, here is how:
Water exposure of any kind can result in pore development in your concrete. Water alone can dissolve calcium hydroxide in concrete, and that process can be made more severe if there is any carbon dioxide in … (2 comments)

laurel jonas: Save Your Home From Dryer Fires - 03/25/21 07:05 PM

Save your home from dryer fires
Every year, more than 2,900 home fires are started by clothes dryers. The leading cause of these fires is the build-up of lint from lack of maintenance. The removable lint filter unfortunately doesn't catch all of the cloth and fabric particles, so maintenance requires a little more than just emptying the filter after each load. Whether you live in your own home or plan to purchase in the near future, it's important to have safeguards in place for the utilities that you use that could put your home at risk. You want to make sure that … (2 comments)
