housing: Fresno Housing Authority Offering Rehabed Homes in Fresno -- but at what cost to tax payers ??? - 08/31/10 04:21 PM
The reason I am wondering is I happen to be looking at a listing for a home: MLS#358901
The home is located at 3423 E Illinois Ave, Fresno, CA 93702.
This is a small 2 bedroom 1 bath home with 808 sq. ft.
According to the listing information given this home "was totally redone by Housing Authority. Sharp, clean, newer carpet and paint in and out."
Public records that we have access to through our MLS (and which I consider to be generally accurate) state it was purchased by the Housing Authority (it actually reads City of Fresno) on 3/23/2010 … (0 comments)

housing: Alan Greenspan Addresses National Association of Realtors Midyear Meeting - 05/15/09 11:35 AM
Why the National Association of Realtors would hire the most prominent architect of the Housing Bubble to speak at their midyear meeting is totally beyond me understandable: they want to hear some someone "talk their book".  Greenspan certainly has the credentials.  His management of our nation's money supply fueled the bubble and lined the pockets or Realtors.  How can they not love and revere him?
I was particularly intrigued when I heard him say "We are finally beginning to see the seeds of a bottoming" which he immediately followed up with "NOT IN PRICES YET"  Folks, I would take that as a WARNING: we … (2 comments)

housing: Bankers Crunch The Numbers -- Then CRUNCH THE HOUSES - 05/05/09 10:37 AM
Here's the latest on the California Housing Crunch.  Bankrupt builders are leaving their creditors with nearly finished homes.  The banks, already upside down in the deals no they can never recoup their losses so the demolish the homes as you see in this video below.

Unfortunately the demolition makes sense because the besides finishing the homes the banks would likely be obligated to complete the streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and all the rest of the neighborhood infrastructure.  Very sad, especially in light how many people don't have a proper roof over their head.

housing: Alternative Living - Lowering the Bar on America's Living Standards - 11/18/08 06:24 AM
Take a look at this young man's lifestyle. Jay Shafer has been living in homes smaller than some peoples closets. His entire living space is smaller than the small home office I am sitting in right now.
But after watching his videos I have to admit that my inner hippy cries out " I WANT ONE!"
With all the people losing their homes these days there is something to be said for "smaller", more affordable living. How could one not be somewhat envious of the person living in a home that is not only affordable -- but fully paid for -- … (2 comments)
