Sorry Mr. Seller, but we had to skip showing your home today in Murphy, NC. It's not our fault - we tried. We met with our clients today at our Coldwell Banker High Country office and went over some lovely and well priced homes to show them before they headed back to Florida in the morning. There were so many that they wanted to see before making their final decision, but they decided to skip yours since your listing needed a 24 hour notice to show.

Murphy, NC Celebrated Memorial Day at Memorial Park in the heart of downtown Murphy. The traditional service actually started at sunrise this morning with the raising of the Flag and then to half staff.
  
As the sun was shining and we had a slight breeze around 10:30 everyone started to gather for the Memorial Day Celebration at the Memorial Park. It was a very moving ceremony with the History of the Wars and Uniformed Soldiers marched into formation.  The Murphy Choir did a fabulous job with the song service and then there was the Placing of the Wreaths. Great news for Murphy, NC! According to our beloved Mayor Bill Hughes Cherokee County will be getting a couple of very well know named businesses in the near future. BIG LOTS is coming to town and will be located at the former Ashley Furniture building and Krystal is coming to the downtown area. I know Lee will be happy to see a Krystal's here in town! Little by little the economy is beginning to move forward and Murphy is proud to have these two new great businesses join our communities and help us grow.

No traffic jams here in downtown Murphy, NC! One thing we haven’t missed since 1997 is that 5:00 rush hour traffic in downtown Miami. Our buildings might not be as tall and we might not have all the name brand stores, but walking in downtown Murphy is one of the best things about living in Cherokee County, NC.
 Park or walk downtown and you could spend all day there. One of our favorite places for breakfast is at Main Street where you can stop in or drive thru. We love their breakfast sandwich of whole wheat toast, eggs, cheese and … (12 comments)

Did Dogwood Winter show up in Murphy, NC today? We had some chilly temperatures and frost on the ground to welcome us this morning. Old-timers in the Appalachians know there are several named "winters" following winter, and Dogwood and Blackberry Winter are perhaps the best known. It’s a term used by Southerners to describe a period of cold weather that coincides with the blooming of the local dogwoods and blackberries, usually occurring in the mid April to May months.
