While riding the bike loop in Cades Cove we came upon this mother bear and her three cubs. They were just enjoying themselves eating nuts under the Hickory tree not paying any attention at all to the onlookers - that is until this crazy woman with a red bike helmet stood up to get a closer shot. Don't mess with mama bear! I had to back up and just barely got the third cub in this photo.

lee and carol barbour: Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin - 10/02/09 03:59 PM

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff-- including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see. This was passed on to me from another pumpkin. Now, it is your turn to pass it to a pumpkin. I liked this enough to send it to all the pumpkins in my patch...Happy Fall!

lee and carol barbour: Toothpaste in Church - 09/30/09 11:48 AM
Today I read Lou Ludwig's Motivational Power Quote , and it reminded me of my favorite "Children's Church" story. As all the children gather around for the story we need a couple volunteers to help us. Hands raise from several of the young children and we pick one boy and one girl to come up and help us with this story today. Okay now I need Mary to hold this toothbrush and I need Jim to take this tube of toothpaste. Now were ready. Jim, I want you to help Mary out and squeeze out some of that toothpaste onto the toothbrush … (8 comments)

lee and carol barbour: Friday Funnies - 54 Years Ago... - 09/25/09 03:46 PM
Comments made in the year 1955!  That's only 54 years ago!I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $10.00.
Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $1,000.00 will only buy a used one.
If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit.  20 cents a pack is ridiculous.
Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging 7 cents just to mail a letter!?
If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.
When I first started driving, who would … (7 comments)
