Cherokee Casino coming to Murphy NC in 2014 Cherokee Casino coming to Murphy NC in 2014! Just outside of Murphy and close to the Wal-Mart is the proposed site where the Casino will be built. The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Tribal Council tabled a resolution Feb 28, 2013 to authorize construction of a casino and hotel on trust land in Cherokee County.

Our little museum is packed full with Native-American artifacts, Pioneer Implements, Antique Firearms, Period Dress, Early School House Room, Photographs, Quilts and a Log Cherokee Dwelling circa 1800.

It's Lucky Penny Day each year on May 23rd. Perhaps a Lucky Penny will be lucky for you today. Taken at face value, a penny doesn't buy you much anymore, if anything.  It used to.  During our parents and grandparents days, a penny bought a lot of things. Most notably, Penny Candy got its name because a piece of candy cost a penny. Oh, the memories of these special trips with our grandfather to the corner store for penny candies are some of our fondest!

 Even though we might not be out at some of the many Lakes around Murphy, NC swimming or canoeing; it’s still a great place to get out and take a nice walk around the lake and over the dam where we took this photo.

One of the best things about living in Murphy, NC is all the great surrounding areas that make for some great daytrips. We’ve already shared with you about our Highlands outing,  Dry Falls and the amazing  Stick Art Maze outside The Bascom, but here’s our favorite exhibit inside The Bascom. They even have vintage leather motorcycle jackets for you to wear as you tour this exhibit and take photos!
