Sponsored by Carlina First the Reedy River Run in Downtown Greenville SC is scheduled for Saturday March 7th, 2009. The race is run between 8:30am and 10:30am. During the race many streets will be closed so be aware of that if you are going to downtown Greenville for any reason. The race course goes through the Main Street and Downtown area then through the Hampton-Pinckney Historic District. Some street closures will continue until 11:00am as the awards and after race festivities continue. The race organizers expect 4,000 to 5,000 participants either walking, running or watching.

If you like college baseball, you may be able to sample the ACC tournament in downtown Greenville at Fluor Field - 2011 through 2013.  Those dates are up for grabs and the competition is fierce between Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Jacksonville, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem.  Jacksonville has long hosted the tournament, but the next two years will see it in Raleigh and Boston (Fenway Park) respectively.  Look for more on the decision in May.

downtown greenville: New Greenville Manufacturing Factories; Downtown Greenville Sewer Project Ending - 10/08/07 03:36 AM
The downtown Greenville sewer project that has been disrupting traffic near Spring and Broad Streets will hopefully wrap up by the end of October.  It is part of a $44 million upgrade to the aging sewer system in the wake of several spills into public and private areas. Most of the work revolves around replacing the catch basins where multiple lines come together. The city is doing $2 million in preventative maintenance as well, and has made enough progress over the last few years that it has been removed from the EPA's list of violators.
