Sponsored by Carlina First the Reedy River Run in Downtown Greenville SC is scheduled for Saturday March 7th, 2009. The race is run between 8:30am and 10:30am. During the race many streets will be closed so be aware of that if you are going to downtown Greenville for any reason. The race course goes through the Main Street and Downtown area then through the Hampton-Pinckney Historic District. If you like college baseball, you may be able to sample the ACC tournament in downtown Greenville at Fluor Field - 2011 through 2013. Those dates are up for grabs and the competition is fierce between Greenville, Myrtle Beach, Jacksonville, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem. Downtown Greenville has an awesome Saturday Market every Saturday from May-November. The market has even won recognition from the International Festival and Events Association. The e-newsletter took Best Event/organization e-newsletter, the street banners took Best street banner and the saturday market also too best hat. The downtown Greenville sewer project that has been disrupting traffic near Spring and Broad Streets will hopefully wrap up by the end of October. It is part of a $44 million upgrade to the aging sewer system in the wake of several spills into public and private areas. Most of the work revolves around replacing the catch basins where multiple lines come together. The city is doing $2 million in preventative maintenance as well, and has made enough progress over the last few years that it has been removed from the EPA's list of violators.
