What a fantastic place to spend a few hours one Saturday!  The Finley family did just that last weekend. 
Vollmer Farm is located in Bunn, NC which is just a short drive from the Wake Forest area.  Originally, the farm was a tobacco farm and then in the 80's Farmer John converted his family's fifth-generation tobacco farm into strawberries, pumpkins and organics! 
Today there are fields upon fields of conventional strawberries and organic strawberries from April to July!  Strawberries were just perfect for picking this past weekend and I am sure that this weekend will be just as good.  All you … (7 comments)

What a great idea for a late afternoon with mom......the Six Sundays In Spring concert on May 11.
The Wake Forest Cultural Association sponsors these fabulous free concerts on the lawn of the Wake Forest College Birthplace in the heart of the Wake Forest Historic District.  The concerts start at 5pm and end at 7pm.  You are to pack picnic baskets, frisbees, blankets, chairs, and bring the dogs and children!  Local artists will have booths set up to display their work, civic clubs sell hot dogs, snacks and drinks and various community groups display information and sale booths.

My family and I decided yesterday that it was time to get out and take a walk.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous and we couldn't think of a better place to go......Blue Jay Point Park!
Typically, we take advantage of the huge playground that is there but this time decided to explore some of the exhibits they have as well as some trails that we had never hiked before......AMAZING!  The Blue Jay Point Center is loaded with educational information about the Falls Lake Watershed, Recycling, the forest, insects, etc....Learned quite a bit about the region that I hadn't know before!  Just outside … (7 comments)

There were 143 closings for the month of March 2008 in Wake Forest.  This is the highest number of closings per month for 2008.  Total closings since January 2008 through April 15, 2008 for Wake Forest is 341.  Of those closings 18% had a price point of $400,000 or higher. WOO-HOO!  It's back!  The annual "Meet In The Street" comes to downtown Wake Forest on May 3rd!!!!!  Event time is 10am - 4pm.  So, what is THIS all about?  Let me just tell you.....
This is one of the most anticipated events (along with the HerbFest) every year in Wake Forest.  For over 27 years the Wake Forest community has come together to enjoy this HUGE family-friendly festival.  There is so much to do!  There are homemade Arts and Crafts that include original paintings, handmade jewelry and handmade home decor just to name a few.

Whew - this has certainly been back and forth!  First we had The Drought - An Impact Greater Than You Know..... - yep, the pool was almost closed for summer. 
Then we had Holding Park Pool vs. The Drought - Wake Forest Pool Closed For Summer - The pool was definitely closed for summer and now we have..............

Join a park ranger and go exploring!  Search for snakes, frogs, and birds along the 3/4 mile loop.  Great educational hike - we have been to several of them and it is a great family outing!  On this particular hike you can also learn about projects you can do in your own back yard! 
This hike will take place on Sunday, April 13 at 10:00am.  Please plan on meeting at the Sandling Beach Shelter 7 - all ages are welcome - children must be accompanied by parent.
