cats: Chirp--Grrr!!!

I was out of town at the WCR State meeting in California when I received the text from my husband. One of the smoke alarm batteries had apparently gotten to that critically low level where it starts to chirp an alert. It was 3am (when it started chirping, thank goodness the text came at a more decent hour!). Cowboy, that handsome cat, decided it was important that he start growling at the chirping smoke alarm. I understand neither slept the rest of the night. Sometimes it pays to be out of town!

Yes, I had a great time at WCR Leadership Academy last year, and yes, I make good use of the tote bag I received there. And, yes, when I came home from a day of "real estating" and inadvertantly left the tote bag on the floor, Cowboy found it made an excellent pillow -- afterall, what cat wouldn't want to dream about the exciting leadership, networking and educational opportunities available in Women's Council of Realtors. Cowboy, the tabby in the back of the chair with the white chest, was in the chair first. Yoda, absolutely adores Cowboy, and she started purring the moment she saw him in the chair. Cowboy, for the most part, puts us with Yoda and her blind adoration. However, sometimes, he can't help himself. Shortly after he gave her that annoyed look you see here, he cuffed with his right paw and she exited immediately. Of course, having me with a flash camera, did not help the situation. … (8 comments)

Although I am an Idaho native, I do enjoy living in the San Diego area now. The time spent harvesting flower seeds out of the family flower garden must have influenced my lifelong love of gardening. Each year for Halloween, my cosmic orange cosmos are at their showiest. The vibrant cosmos are winding down their growing season. Now, as we ready for the Christmas festivities, the Poinsettia we planted a few years ago from a holiday potted plant, is beginning to turn some of its leaves into that show-stopping brilliant pink. cats: Purr-fect Gift!

Yes, the temptation was too much. Cowboy was lounging close by on the floor when the gift box arrived. I opened the box, removed the basket, and well, ever so nonchalantly, left the box open, on the floor. As you might expect, nature took its expected course. Within minutes, Cowboy was in the box, looking like the purr-fect gift. It's amazing what opportunities can present themselves when you share life with a cat.

When I lived in North LA County in the area known as Valencia, I often enjoyed their Bella Via festival in which spectacular chalk artists created replicas of masterpieces on the pavement. Unfortunately, outdoor these works of art lasted for just a few days. The closest thing I've seen to that here in San Diego County is the Carlsbad Art Splash. The setting is in a beautiful spot -- overlooking the Pacific Ocean. As soon as you walk in the entrance, a Starbucks booth is set up to give you a free cup of robust coffee.
