Don't Hesitate to Blog About A Topic Multiple Times.

I belong to the jabber-mouth class of bloggers.  Just as I've never been at a loss for words when speaking with someone, that follows in my blogging.
I can write multiple posts about any subject matter.  In fact, some would say that I do just that.  Of course, I do.  Fact is, much of what I write is for home buying consumers.  That means they must be Google friendly.  Ah!  Another challenge.
Actually, I'd rather write several posts about a community or area rather than a post that is so long … (13 comments)

blogging: One Call....One Contact is All You Need. - 08/27/14 09:49 PM

Why blog??
Because I can.
Blogging is just one way of spreading the word about your business.
Blogging represents totally PULL advertising that offers readers an opportunity for contact but no "in your fact" PUSH advertising.
Blogging also permits the writers to expand their Internet presence which is priceless.

blogging: Writing A Blog Post 101. A Reblog and Trip Down Memory Lane. - 04/17/13 02:07 AM
"Remember in high school when we learned about outlines and essays?"
That's what I've been harping on (yes, I do harp) for years.
I recall learning basic composition, outlines, essays in 7th grade.  My teacher, Mrs. Kennedy, was very tough and for that, I thank her every single day.
I don't necessarily follow the classic formats simply because I've learned that COSMETIC English will hold folks' attention longer.
However, don't ignore the basics.

blogging: BLOGGING NOT WORKING FOR YOU?? IT JUST MAY BE AND YOU DON'T KNOW IT. - 04/17/13 01:19 AM
BLOGGING NOT WORKING FOR YOU???
If you're expecting consumers to telephone you directly and often, you may be disappointed.  Although that is surely possible and it warms my heart to hear, "I saw you on the Internet and you were talking about _______________",most of the contacts I get from the Internet are from web pages.  Not a problem.  That was my plan.
However, to benefit fully from your ActiveRain blog, you need to look at the entire picture and that includes your ActiveRain blog, your pages on Twitter, Facebooks, LinkedIn, Google +, etc.
A few tips can help.

blogging: Blogging for the main event? Just do it!! - 03/04/13 07:56 AM
BINGO!
What's that old saying?  You can't make a good omelet until you break a few eggs!!!
You can't get good at anything until you DO IT!
You can't get better at anything until you are doing it!
You can't become skilled at anything until you practice it!
Writing is just talking in print.
Writing is an acquired skill.  Just to it.  Do it again, and again until you forget that you're "doing it".
SEE HOW EASY THAT WAS??

BINGO!  WE DON'T KNOW WHAT WE DON'T KNOW!!
The more we learn in this complicated and ever changing business, the more we realize that we have to learn.
I credit the NAR with the structure to provide learning and certified opportunities (requirements) to keep us up to date and in a position to lead the consumer.

blogging: What Should I Write About in My Real Estate Blog? Is that the question?? - 12/09/12 06:30 PM
JUST CHANGE ONE WORD.
What Should I TALK About in My Real Estate Blog???
I always figure that folks who can't think of anything to blog about would not be able to think of anything to talk about.
If you can talk about it, you can blog about it.
Perhaps a better question is, "Can you type?"

blogging: Nothing Personal - I believe that it's always personal. - 12/09/12 07:21 AM
It's always personal when we are giving opinion.
It's always personal when we write about our markets.
It's always personal when we engage each other.
If it were not personal, we'd all be alike writing the same thing about the same topics.
Writing is, to some degree, always colored by the personality and views of the writer.
How we see things
How we relate to customers and clients
Services we offer
Area information
All the above are seen THROUGH OUR OWN EYES and all are different (unless copied).
The articles we write, the photos we post, are all personal.  Every blog and every blog is unique.  … (7 comments)

JUST DO IT!!!
In the time it takes to plan to post and make a list, you can have a market report DONE AND PUBLISHED!!!
Post every day and make sure that, in addition to the link-backs that come with ANY blog post, add a link or two to your web site.
NO, I did NOT say, add a LAUNDRY LIST of link to other sites/blog posts.
Another good idea is to proof-read your copy.  You'd be amazed at what you might find.

blogging: I WAS ADMONISHED FOR MY BLOG TODAY! - 10/17/12 08:03 PM
UPDATING BLOGS WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE!!  What about DATING THEM???
I'm not sure that it's possible to travel back in time to find and edit or remove all blog posts containing dated material.
We post about local events, local home buyer programs, national home buyer programs, etc. all of which have expiration dates.
Yet, 2-3 years after the expiration of a home buyer program, the blog post is still in the blogosphere and available to anyone using the unique keyword or keyword phrase for that post.
Over the years, I've received many calls about outdated or expired home buyer programs/grants/loans/tax credits/, etc.

blogging: The power of the written word: Taking a blog to the NEXT level. - 06/10/12 10:29 PM
PUBLISHING TO A BLOG IS SERIOUS WRITING.
If one doesn't understand that, how can they explain the national bloggers who sell advertising in the "$Millions and who influence national politics and generate millions of readers??
HA!  How many readers does that attorney generate with his pleadings??
Richard was insulted by an attorney who demeaned his blogging as something less than "writing".  That attorney clearly has no knowledge of the power of a blog.  He has probably never published to a blog.
The fact that he said "written" anything shows that he is ignorant of the internet and the myriad ways of … (11 comments)

blogging: Stop, Look and Listen --That's How to Find Topics for Your Posts - 02/02/12 12:24 AM
SUBJECTS FOR ACTIVERAIN BLOG POSTS ARE LIMMITED ONLY BY YOUR IMAGINATION!
There are few limits:
* Don't be nasty.  Usually reflects poorly on the writer.
* Don't steal published material created by others.  Could cost you dearly in $$$$$
* Don't be too profane.  It will probably be published but may reflect poorly on the writer.

The possibilities are limited only by your imagination:
Did you vist a merchant today?
Did you visit a residential community today?
Have you discovered a market area new to you?
Did anything interesting occur on a buyer tour today?
Did you have an interesting listing presentation today?
Have you discovered a web site helpful to ActiveRain members?

More than we can count.  Paula is absolutely right.  I've been contacted by members inquiring about a number of matters related to blogging and their blog.  They either don't post to their blog or comment with interest simply because of the fear of being criticized by other members.

blogging: ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF "GAME CHANGERS" in life, business and sports. - 06/27/11 03:42 AM
Inspired by Rich Jacobson's post this a.m., I'm thoughtful of, not just what or whom we admire, but WHY.
CAN'T SEE THE FOREST FOR THE TREES??  NOT RICH JACOBSON.  In his post, Taking a Swing at ActiveRain , Rich defends ActiveRain.  Proving (as one who could carry a grudge but doesn't) that many who bash or diminish the value of ActiveRain have tunnel vision and are probably focused on one tree (or their own navel) rather than the forest in front of them.
