va: Mortgage rates - 07/02/07 01:04 AM
This week brings us the release of very few economic reports for the markets to digest. There are only three monthly reports scheduled for release that are likely to affect mortgage rates, but one of them is arguably the most influential single piece of data that we see each month. This is a shortened trading week with the markets closed Wednesday and an early bond market close Tuesday in observance of the Independence Day holiday. The first of the week's three reports is of fairly high importance to the bond market. The Institute of Supply Management (ISM) will release their manufacturing … (0 comments)

va: Bond Market /Rates - 06/29/07 03:30 AM
Friday's bond market has opened in positive territory following the release of weaker than expected economic news. The stock markets are currently showing gains with the Dow up 68 points and the Nasdaq up 13 points. The bond market is currently up 6/32, which should improve this morning's mortgage rates slightly. There were two reports released this morning. The first was the release of May's Personal Income and Outlays data. It showed that consumer income and spending both rose less than expected last month. Income rose 0.4% while spending rose 0.5%. Both were 0.2% below expectations, which is good news for the … (0 comments)

va: VA LAONS , Are your customers eligible? If so this is a great program with up to 100% Financing and No MI - 06/25/07 03:24 AM
VA Loans

VA guaranteed loans are made by lenders and guaranteed by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to eligible veterans for the purchase of a home. The guaranty means the lender is protected against loss if you fail to repay the loan. In most cases, no down payment is required on a VA guaranteed loan and the borrower usually receives a lower interest rate than is ordinarily available with other loans.

Other benefits of a VA loan include:
Negotiable interest rate. 100% FinancingClosing costs comparable - and sometimes lower - than other financing types. No private mortgage insurance requirement. Right to … (3 comments)

va: Hang on for the roller coaster ride! What will rates do next week? - 06/22/07 02:07 PM
This weeks mortgage roller coaster ride ends with rates down slightly before the end of the day today but what's in store for next week? After watching cnn and msnbc  after the close of the market today there was mixed views. Most of the concerns were over the sub prime market that continues to crumble.
Here is an online article I read and it gave a good idea of what has happened this week and maybe what we can expect. I say hold on tight for another week of ups and downs.

va: Credit Repair Agencies - Increase your FICO Scores for better rates. - 06/18/07 05:21 AM
I wanted to do a little research and see if anyone here has used a "credit repair agency" in the past and if so what kind of results your experienced?
I was introduced to a guy last week Mark Dorman with Credit Restore Team and he really seemed to have a handle on the business. I took a look at how he does his business and was very impressed. The company seems to have a great tracking system to help keep you in the loop of what is happening throughout the process, you log in and you know what stage the customer … (4 comments)

va: Law Enforcement (Real Estate) Agents? NY Realtors, Is this serious? - 06/11/07 05:45 AM
OFFICIALS in the town of Islip have taken measures in the past to crack down on illegal rentals in single-family homes, as have many less affluent towns on Long Island. But Islip took a more aggressive step in May when it passed a law requiring real estate agents to verify that the homes and apartments they represent are legal and compliant with building codes.

Here is the complete article that I read online:
 http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/10/realestate/10lizo.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

I can not imagine Realtors having to know the laws of the towns and to do the job of the town!

va: Bi-Weekly Mortgage Payments , Worth it or not? - 06/06/07 09:36 AM
Bi-Weekly Mortgage
If you search for "bi-weekly mortgage" with an Internet search engine, you will be overwhelmed by the number of companies offering "Bi-weekly Mortgage Reduction Services" or "Bi-weekly Savings Programs." Beware, you are entering dangerous waters.
Beware of Bi-Weekly Mortgage Reduction Services and Savings Programs
These "Reduction Services" and "Savings Programs" are charging you fees to "make a bi-weekly mortgage payment" for you. The enticement is that they will save you an impressive amount of money on your mortgage and reduce the number of years you pay on your mortgage.
The enticement is that they will make bi-weekly mortgage payments for you.

va: Bond Market and Rates For Monday - 06/04/07 06:53 AM
Monday's bond market has opened in positive territory following early stock losses. The stock markets have opened in negative territory this morning. The Dow is currently down 20 points while the Nasdaq has slipped 2 points. The bond market is currently up 5/32, but we likely will see little change in mortgage rates this morning due to weakness in bonds late Friday. The Commerce Department reported late this morning that April's Factory Orders rose 0.3%. This was lower than expected, however, today's release also revised March's orders higher by 0.6%. This news offset the lower than expected reading in April's new orders. … (0 comments)

va: Paying Your Mortgage Off Early, Should you do it? - 06/04/07 02:24 AM
Should you pay off your mortgage early? Even with today's low interest rates, the total amount of interest you may pay over the life of your mortgage can seem like a staggering amount. It's one of the reasons many people set a goal to pay down their mortgages early. But pre-paying a mortgage may not be for everyone. Here are some reasons to consider it:

Paying your mortgage off will make you completely debt free. You want to reduce expenses as much as possible so you can put more money into your retirement fund. You live a country, such as Canada, where … (0 comments)

va: Today's Market/ Interest Rates Outlook - 05/31/07 04:39 AM
Thursday's bond market has opened in negative territory following another round of stock gains and concerns about tomorrow's economic data. The stock markets are well into positive territory with the Dow up 18 points and the Nasdaq up 11 points. The bond market is currently down 6/32, which will likely push this morning's mortgage rates higher by approximately .125 of a discount point.Today's only relevant data was the first revision to the 1st quarter Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It showed an annual rate of growth of 0.6%, which was lower than the 0.8% that was expected and well below the previous … (0 comments)

Things to avoid before buying a home

Many new homebuyers make the mistake of rushing out to buy things to fill their home with as soon as the seller accepts their purchase offer and the lender pre-approves their loan. But there are still a few major hurdles to overcome before the keys are handed out. Here are some things to avoid during the home buying process to assure your transaction goes as smoothly as possible:

Don't make an expensive purchase. It may be tempting to order that new sofa for your soon-to-be living room, but its best to avoid making major purchases like … (0 comments)

va: Why you should get an Inspection? - 05/29/07 01:32 AM
Why you should get an Inspection?
Whether you are buying or selling a home, you should have a professional home inspection performed.
A home inspection will look at the systems that make up the building such as:
Structural elements, foundation, framing etc Plumbing systems Roofing Electrical systems Cosmetic condition, paint, siding etc
If you are buying a home, you need to know exactly what you are getting. A home inspection, performed by a professional home inspector, will reveal any hidden problems with the home so that they may be addressed BEFORE the deal is closed. You should require an inspection at the time … (3 comments)

I have a family member who has a home for sale and I asked if I could suggest one of my referral partners as the listing agent. Well it turns out they listed with someone who is not one of my referral partners they went with the lady next door who in the 7 years they lived next door to her I have met maybe once. I have been at many, many functions and I send a lot of time at my relatives house so how good of a friend can this lady be? No one in our family really knows her and seeing … (1 comments)

va: What A Great Deal!------- Maybe NOT! - 05/26/07 06:15 AM
What a great deal.............
100% Financing
No Closing Costs
No PMI

Over the past 3-4 weeks I have lost about 4 deals to a lender with that ad but is it all it's cracked up to be? One of my referral partners has a couple of clients who I pre-approved and then they bagged me after taking my hard work and knowledge and going to the 100% LTV,no closing costs,no PMI deal.... Sounded great and even after the lender charged them 2 points (which is a great way to cover the lenders costs) they still seemed to be getting a excellent rate and deal as … (3 comments)

va: All business aside for a minute, take some time to honor our American Hero's - 05/26/07 03:39 AM
We all are guilty of getting so wrapped up in our work and family life that we tend to take for granit the how lucky we are here in the USA to be able to live our lifes free. We go through our everyday lifes and sometimes fail to remember those troops in the past who have made our country the free and great country it is.
We also sometimes fail to remember as we go through our busy days that we have thousands of our troops still fighting everyday for our freedom and our great way of life.
Take a few minutes out of your memorial … (1 comments)
