They say that words tell but pictures sell Someone said this to me recently. As a result I am taking a different approach with my website this year. Rather than listing my long list of accomplishments and hoping that someone will read it, I am using pictures and animations to showcase my work. arizona house plans: Spectacular Custom Home

This spectacular custom Arizona home is nearing completion. It has been over 15 months since I began designing the plans for this home. The homeowners are extatic. They should be in it by mid February. I could have gotten better pictures, but I only had my cell pjone with me when I stopped by yesterday. Here are some of the highlights.

A grand front entrance with a large distressed front door. The red lines denote where the stone veneer will go.
An overall view of the front. At least part of the front. If I backed any further away to get more of it in the picture I would have been in the hay field.

In this edition of DIY projects gone wrong I will explore porch and carport additions. When I design a house or an addition to a house I use certain criteria to decide whether I need to use the services of a licensed Structural Engineer. If the design includes a beam over 20', a ceiling height more than 10' or lateral resistance that cannot meet the prescriptive requirements of the code then I use the services of a Structural Engineer. Many Home Inspectors find an incorrectly built porch and they immediately recommend having a Structural Engineer look at it because recommending the … (4 comments)
