While we are mostly known for our water sports, Lake Havasu City is much more than just a lake. We have miles of beautiful BLM desert land surrounding us that are a dirt lover's paradise. Now that spring break is upon us, it seems appropriate that this is the weekend that the World Off-Road Championship comes to Lake Havasu City.

Active Rain recently conducted a poll of real estate agents and found that 84% believe real estate values and transactions will increase in 2013. Last year's fundraiser was such a success, that Hospice of Havasu has decided to do it again. The 2nd Annual Lake Havasu Ride 4 Life will take place this Saturday, November 3, 2012. Beginning at 8am, motorcycle enthusiasts will be gathering at Hospice of Havasu, located at 232 London Bridge Rd, for a pancake breakfast before they take off for stops in Parker, Havasu Landing, Fort Mojave and then back to Lake Havasu on their poker run.

The American Bus Association (ABA) recently released its 2013 Top 100 Events in North America and Lake Havasu City made the list. The 24th Annual Winter Blast Pyrotechnics event scheduled for February 13-18, 2013 was the event that caught the ABA's attention. Since the American Bus Association is such a prestigious magazine for folks that love their RVs and motorcoaches, it is quite an honor to be ranked in its list of "must-see" events for the year. The Lake Havasu Hospitality Association is sponsoring Lake Havasu's 4th Annual Great Pineapple Race tomorrow evening, September 13, 2012. In its most recent Primary Mortgage Market Survey®, Freddie Mac reported that interest rates for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages (FRM) has dipped even lower, ending the week at an average of 3.49%. In fact, there has only been one week this calendar year that the 30 year FRM was above 4%. The 15 year FRM averaged out to 2.8%, which marks the 9th consecutive week it has been below 3%. Budget constraints can make it difficult to fund some projects. In order for these these programs to continue to be available to Lake Havasu citizens, the city relies on the efforts of volunteers.

Push America, a charitable organization that helps Americans with disabilities, will bring its annual cross country awareness and fundraiser campaign into our community next week. A Journey of Hope pedals through Havasu on June 16th through the 18th. A Journey of Hope is made up of 35 undergrads who are members of Pi Kappa Phi that bicycle their way from Long Beach, CA to Washington DC over the course of 65 days for a total of 4095 miles. Throughout their journey, they stop at different cities to bestow grants to organizations that help members of the community with disabilities.

It seems that remote controlled vehicles (planes, boats, cars, etc) have become quite the rage over the past few years. Lake Havasu City isn't going to be left out of the RC craze. The Havasu Sport Flyers Association is flying high in Havasu with its weekly gatherings in Rotary Park. And they're always willing to welcome new members.
