new years: Why New Year's Matters - 01/01/13 05:40 AM
It's not like you can't restart anytime you want to.  You can!  Every time you fail....you should.  But there's some psychological elements of New Years that makes new resolutions seem real...even just for a bit.  Frankly, all we need to do is to experience one victory, two victories....to make the momentum move in your direction.
I looked back on my goals from last year.  I wanted to double my income.  I did.  I wanted to increase it by more than double, but I didin't.  Still....doubling my income is still a good thing.  I look at the accomplishments that happened this past … (8 comments)

new years: Discipline is my New Year's Theme.... - 12/30/08 11:58 PM
Every year I put myself in a position to succeed in new resolutions.  That comes after many years of failure.  Instead of giving myself a million different resolutions I move to two or three that I can follow through with.  I finally joined the weight loss portion of AR and decided that I'm going to lose 20+ pounds.  Weight loss resolutions consensus.   I'm going to close on a couple of large commercial deals to take the stress off of the need to close 20 deals a month as an originator.
As of three years ago, I try also to add a theme … (13 comments)

new years: 2009 will be better with a Life Plan!!!! - 12/30/08 01:00 AM
Every year I vow to get better than the prior year.  There are a few reasons why I've become successful in the past few years.  The primary reason is that I always only pick a few major things that need changing so that I can really tear it up next year.  It may be weight loss, or working out or reading for personal growth or being better at being connected wtih family.....whatever, but my huge list of to dos are gone.  I have two or three critical things to help me just kick it.
Next....I re-visit my life plan.  My life … (10 comments)

new years: New Year's Resolution 50 Days Later - 02/19/08 03:07 PM
How are you all doing with your New Year's Resolutions?  I have been so excited to attack this year more than this year.  How are you doing.  I've only set a few goals, trying to make this a realistic approach in order to assure a myriad of successes this year.  I don't need a million goals, just a few achievable ones.  Here's where I sit YTD.
1)  Spiritual - I made a committment to reading the bible daily.  I'm reading one chapter of proverbs and one chapter of the new testament each day.  I'm also trying to memorize a verse every day.  … (9 comments)

new years: Radical Workout Change in 2008 from a workout junkie!!!! - 01/09/08 02:06 PM
I've been a workout junkie for about 1 billion years.  I put on all this wait the first year of my marriage and have worked out obsessively since.  I love it, but still need to drop a few pounds.  This year one of my best friends was telling me about his workout routine.  This guy is six feet tall and has dropped, if you will to 208 pounds.  He is under 8% body fat.  He changed his workout and does the cross fit thing.  Basically, it's related to that mixed martial arts training.  He jumps on www.crossfit.com and every day … (6 comments)

1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
