Treme, New Orleans LA Treme showed up on the radar for new residents after HBO produced the series with the same name. While the show was as close to the real New Orleans as anything else that's ever been on television, it doesn't hold a candle to the real thing. The Treme neighborhood is ever evolving and the dreaded G-word (gentrification) has become the reality for many long time residents. As prices in the French Quarter, the Marigny and the Bywater have continued to rise, people are turning to Treme. While some parts of the city have been completely gentrified (along with the accompanying increase in real estate prices), the Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods in New Orleans still have some of the grit, the edge, the quirkiness...the soul and personality that personifies NOLA to me.
