agent: Do Your Own Work... And Reap the Rewards! - 12/23/08 02:17 AM
I'm going to step on some toes with this one, but when I read a recent bit of advice by Jeffrey Gitomer, I was in such complete agreement, I knew I had to blog it! If you're not familiar with Jeffrey Gitomer and you're in any type of sales, you need to get familiar with Mr. Gitomer. His no-nonsense approach to sales training and advice is always on target. But sometimes when the arrow hits that target, it can make you want to strangle him, while at other times, it can make you want to grab the nearest phone so you … (57 comments)

agent: The Greatest Real Estate Seller I've Ever Met - 09/06/08 03:55 PM

A few days ago, I wrote a post called "How Would You Sell This House?".  If you haven't already, please read that post before this one. In that post, I outlined the problems that a Port Orange real estate seller was experiencing in selling his house. He was interviewing real estate agents when I met with him. But his house is already listed with another agent at this time. If you're a real estate agent, you know that we frequently get calls from real estate sellers who currently have their houses listed with another agent, whom they are considering replacing … (20 comments)

agent: The "Cool" College in Daytona Beach vs "un-cool" colleges - 08/21/08 06:51 PM

Yesterday I wrote a blog about what was previously Daytona Beach Community College; now Daytona State College. In that post, I made a comment about my daughter using Florida's Bright Future's Scholarship to attend her college of choice, because apparently it was uncool to attend college in the city where you were born and raised.
Well, I received a comment on that blog post by a current student of Daytona State College, who has his own blog about DSC, and wrote a post in response to my own. Apparently Richard X. Thripp didn't like my comment about my daughter thinking … (4 comments)

agent: Summer in Daytona Beach: Wow It's Hot! But We Have A New Public Pool! - 08/09/08 12:14 PM

Great news for Daytona Beach residents who need a way to escape the heat. A new public aquatic center has been built on the corner of Nova Road and George W. Engram Blvd. This new "regulation size" pool is the Cypress Aquatic Center, with a 101 swimmer capacity. But this is more than just a pool. This affordable way to spend a day ($3.00 for adults, $2.00 if under 17, children under age 7 must be accompanied by a responsible person over the age of 16.) has locker rooms with showers, family changing rooms, and a covered picnic area which … (6 comments)

agent: Port Orange Real Estate Buyers and Sellers: Good News! - 07/28/08 10:22 PM

Port Orange real estate buyers and sellers, I have some good news for you. I've been tracking the Daytona Beach Area MLS records regularly, so I've known for a while that Port Orange was faring better than Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, or any of the other local cities.
Last week I sold a Port Orange house that's been on the market for a long time. It's a great house on 1 acre, in a fantastic location near Spruce Creek High School. And the sellers were (and still are) great people. But the sale took so long because the price was … (6 comments)

agent: Daytona Beach and Volusia County, Commercial Real Estate Changes - 07/20/08 03:52 PM

If you're a commercial real estate owner in the Daytona Beach area, with real estate to sell, you may or may not be aware of the fact that up until now, the decline in the national real estate market has been primariy limited to the residential market; at least, that's been the case in Volusia county. But as of this year, mostly due to the lack of buyer's ability to get real estate financing, the commercial real estate market is now in decline as well. And with this impact on the commercial market, I believe we're going to see some … (9 comments)

agent: Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach areas, mark your calendars! - 07/10/08 03:59 AM
New Smyrna Beach residents and even those from Daytona Beach, you all need to mark your calendars for a few upcoming events.
From now through July 26th, you can enjoy a Group Photo Show at the Atlantic Center for the Arts, Harris House Gallery in New Smyrna Beach. Since New Smyrna Beach is only about 20 minutes from Daytona Beach and even closer if your home is in Port Orange, this is a pleasant opportunity for everyone.
And to stay abreast of upcoming art shows and events, bookmark/favorite or print the schedule for the Center for the Arts. There are plenty … (0 comments)

This exhibit's featured artists are...

agent: Follow Up to Real Estate Housing Market Hits a New Low? Yikes! - 07/05/08 05:07 PM
I recently wrote a blog post titled "Real Estate Housing Market Hits a New Low? Yikes!" That post was referencing the sotry about the woman who was offering her hand in marriage along with the sale of her house. I guess there's a reason for the old saying "desperate means call for desperate measures".
In my comments I was told that someone else had posted a blog about this story also. That's no surprise. We all have access to the same information. And I've seen mixed comments about this woman who was so desperate to get married and to sell her … (7 comments)

agent: REALTORS® selling For Sale By Owner (FSBO) listings, and the Daytona Beach Real Estate Market - 06/24/08 11:13 AM

Last week I wrote a Daytona Beach real estate blog that provided general information, updates and listings. In that blog post, I mentioned how over the years, there have been times when, as a REALTOR®, I've sold houses that were not actually listed in the Daytona Beach area Multiple Listing System (MLS). In this post, I'm going to elaborate on the real estate conditions of a few years ago, in contrast with today's real estate market, and how it affects the way real estate agents conduct their business.
With the current Daytona Beach area real estate market being such a … (5 comments)

agent: Beautiful 3/2/2 for sale in Edgewater FL-Priced to Sell! - 05/28/08 09:04 PM
If you're looking to buy a house in the Daytona Beach area, but aren't happy with all the Home Owner's Associations (HOA's) and restrictions, then Edgewater is the place for you. Most houses in Edgewater are on large lots with plenty of room for your boat, RV, or whatever you'd like to do.
This house at 2110 Sabal Palm Drive in Edgewater is immaculate and priced to sell! If you're not familiar with Edgewater, it's just south of the Daytona Beach area (just past New Smyrna Beach).

This house is absolutely beautiful. But if it's not the one … (5 comments)

agent: Good News for your Daytona Beach Seaside Music Theater withdrawals - 05/16/08 06:59 PM
A few days ago I had to report some bad news about Daytona Beach's Seaside Music Theater. It turns out that SMT had to cancel their entire summer season, after the Daytona Beach News Journal who has been the grand sponsor of the Theater for over 30 years, withdrew their support.
Well, it's not live theater, but Cinematique Films, at The Book Store, located at 410 S. Nova Rd. in Ormond Beach, is playing The Diving Bell and The Butterfly until June 20. Member prices are evenings, $6.00 and matinees $4.00. Non-member prices are $2.00 more. For more information, including films … (0 comments)

agent: Daytona Beach FL: We're Into Scumbag Eradication! - 05/11/08 08:22 PM
This year, the Daytona Beach police explorers got creative in their fundraising. They decided to sell police caricature T-shirts, depicting our police officers as the "Scumbag Eradication Team".
This is great! LOL. And apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so. The police explorers originally only printed 300 of the T-shirts that say "Scumbag Eradication Team. Not in our Town!" Those 300 shirts all sold within 3 days. So another 250 were ordered, and again sold right away. I have no news on how long the program will continue.
The Explorer team, and now the accompanying T-shirts serve the purpose … (8 comments)
