real estate: Port Orange Family Days - Happening Right Now! - 10/02/10 05:22 AM
I'm late on posting about Port Orange Family Days this year, since I haven't been blogging as much. And it's happening right now! But don't worry. It lasts all weekend. And so far we're having great weather for it!
So if you live in the Port Orange/Daytona Beach areas, head on over to the Port Orange City Center. If you've never been before, you should definitely go! You can enjoy music, games, food (LOTS of food!), fun and rides at the midway! I rarely miss a year, so I'll be there tomorrow. (You'll probably find me on the rides.)
If you're … (5 comments)

real estate: PLEASE Don't Pee in the Pool! - 07/23/10 12:10 AM
I was just visiting Jeff Dowler's blog (one of my favorite bloggers) and found this post. I HAD to re-blog it! And so there's NO misunderstanding, I even took the liberty of using my own mental thesaurus to let it be known, EXACTLY how I feel!
Here is the comment I left on Jeff's post...  Great title. Especially considering that even without ever asking, you just KNOW some people will always pee in the pool! We need the red dye that's shown in the new Adam Sandler movie for when the ADULTS pee in the pool, and the kids are telling … (7 comments)

real estate: Sailing Away, "Captain Ron" Style - 07/07/10 05:30 PM
I was just reading (and viewing) a photo blog post by Mike Mitchell titled "Sailing". As I commented on his post, it reminded me of the days when I met my husband. He had sold a lucrative business in Michigan, bought a sailboat (a Hudson Force 50) and taken a 2 year sabbatical. Since he didn't have much else to do, he was taking my aerobics class all the time. (For about 23 years I taught all kinds of fitness classes. I was always able to supplement my income and get a free gym membership, and there were even times when … (18 comments)

real estate: Things to Do and Places to Visit Around the U.S. and British Columbia! (Part 2 in a series) - 06/01/10 06:07 PM
Last week I began highlighting some of the posts that have been added to the Things to Do/Places to Visit group that exemplified some of what the group is about, as well as giving us a good idea of some things we could do and... places we could visit! =)
I've been loving the posts with tons of links within the posts, plenty of details, loads of variety, and fantastic pictures too. It makes me want to plan a driving tour around our beautiful country, just using the group suggestions of, well... Things I Can Do, and Places I Can Visit! … (3 comments)

real estate: Things to Do and Places to Visit Around the Country! (Part 1) - 05/25/10 08:33 PM
OK so it's way past time for me to do another one of these types of posts. And it's like the posts being submitted to the Things to Do/Places to Visit group have risen to another level of quality. I'm seeing tons of links within the posts, plenty of details, loads of variety, and fantastic pictures too. It makes me want to plan a driving tour around our beautiful country, just using the group suggestions of, well... Things I Can Do, and Places I Can Visit! =)
So, although I can in no way make up for lost time (I still … (6 comments)

real estate: Unable to Comment, or Need More Real Estate Info? - 05/01/10 05:07 AM
If you're one of my blog readers and/or subscribers, and you haven't been "in the loop" for the past week or so, you're probably discovering some problems with the Active Rain system. and unfortunately, you probably can't comment. This is the first post I've been able to make "stick in 3 days, and I've been unable to comment at all, on anyone else's blog.
So, in order to keep you up-to-date on some of our new listings, I've posted 3 of them to one of my backup blogs. I don't use it very often, but at least I do have a … (0 comments)

real estate: Running the Rat Race? Or Running the Long Race for Real Estate Success? - 04/18/10 03:06 PM
This is another one of Nice Gregor's photos. Since he's been slacking (already!), I'm back to using his photos =P  I've actually had this photo saved on my computer for a long time. You see, what you don't know about Nick is that he's a marathon runner.  His nickname on every forum he joins is "Nickrun".
I know he has several photos of his running exploits. I've seen them. I'm hoping he'll share some of them, and his stories eventually. But for now, I have to say, I was inspired by this photo from the first time I saw it. Thinking … (7 comments)

real estate: Explaining Contingency Offers to Real Estate Sellers - 03/23/10 05:26 PM
With the market being as slow as it is, some real estate sellers may be desperate enough to consider purchase offers that are contingent on other sales. Unfortunately, this consideration sometimes stems from the misconception that their listing will still be readily available to potential buyers. But this is simply not the case!
As the listing agent of quite a few houses, condos, manufactured homes and vacant parcels, when another agent brings me an offer on one of my listings, with a contingency attached that involves the sale of another house, condo, manufactured home or piece of vacant land, I can … (6 comments)

Here's a term I hadn't heard of, although this concept is not foreign to me... "Straight Line Thinking"... And this is such an effective way of getting more accomplished. Thank you again, Gary Woltal, for another informative and helpful post. I'm going to make my personal list ASAP.

real estate: And Out Come the Wolves - 03/05/10 12:13 AM

THE REALITY OF WHAT'S REALLY HAPPENING IN REAL ESTATE! (Not what the media says)
I couldn't have said this better myself. As a matter of fact, Paul covered some areas I haven't been comfortable with, by taking a solid stand that I'm now adopting myself. This is a great post for me to give notice to my own work area in Daytona Beach, Port Orange, Ponce Inlet, and all of Volusia County Florida, that I am NOT a REALTOR® who is willing to work with every real estate customer who comes along, wanting to work in the gray areas, and/or … (7 comments)

real estate: Rent or Lease a Daytona Beach House or Condo - 02/16/10 01:44 PM
If you're a Daytona Beach area real estate investor, or just an owner of a house, condo or townhouse that you'd like to rent or lease, I have customers who are actively looking! At this very moment I have...
A couple of roommates who'd like to lease a 2 bedroom condo in Daytona Beach, South Daytona or Port Orange for less than $1000 per month. A small family who need a 3 bedroom house in Port Orange or South Daytona for (preferably) less than $1200 per month. Another family who would like a 3 of 4 bedroom house in Port Orange … (2 comments)

real estate: Ormond Beach Real Estate Listings and Sales 2000-2009 Market Reports - 01/29/10 05:33 PM
Ormond Beach real estate sellers: I believe you'll appreciate this compilation of real estate data, which can help you see the big picture when it comes to selling your Ormond Beach house, condo, townhouse, vacant land, or any type of investment property. It's not just about how much your neighbors are asking for their house. It's not even about the last 6 months of comparable real estate sales. In recent months, many lenders have wanted to see only 3 months of recent sales data. And while sales have been improving, the improvement has been in small increments, and many of the … (3 comments)

real estate: Photos, Social Networking and Hyper-Local Marketing. - 01/20/10 02:32 AM
This morning as I was going through my e-mails that came in overnight, I found a couple of LinkedIn requests from some fellow Rainers. If you have LinkedIn, you know that as you accept new people into your network, it brings up other business associates that you may know, based on the fact that you have commonalities with them. So I usually add a few more people as the list comes up, and the page keeps refreshing.
So what does this have to do with a photo? Well, throughout the years, there has been some debate as to whether or not … (8 comments)

real estate: Volusia County Christmas Parades this Saturday and Sunday-Take Your Pick or Attend Them All! - 12/04/09 02:55 PM
This weekend seems to be the weekend for Christmas Parades in East Volusia County. I already blogged about the Port Orange Christmas Parade which will take place on Sunday. Since then I've discovered that on Saturday, both New Smyrna Beach, and Holly Hill will be holding their annual Christmas Parades.
New Smyrna Beach: This year's Christmas Parade AND Boat Parade! The Christmas Parade is from 4:00 p.m. til 6:00 p.m. It will begin on Flagler Ave and end on Canal Street. And the Boat Parade will begin after dark, shortly after the "land" parade ;-) Holly Hill: This year's Christmas Parade … (4 comments)

real estate: Fascinating Things to Do/Places to Visit on Active Rain-You Could Plan A Trip With These! - 11/20/09 07:49 PM
Planning a trip around the U.S.? Did you know you could actually plan your trip just by using the reccommendations by AR Bloggers who post to the Things to Do/Places to Visit group? Seriously!
It's been a long time since I wrote a post that highlighted a few blogs and bloggers that had recently been featured in the Things to Do/Places to Visit group here on Active Rain. (Of course, if I had another moderator it might get done more often... I'm just saying!...)
So... For those of you who are not familiar with the Things to Do/Places to Visit group, … (8 comments)

real estate: Blogging, Features, and High School: Are They Related? - 11/13/09 02:55 PM
Last week, Broker Bryant Tutas wrote a post that addressed the bloggers who complain about not being featured... and all the silly complaining that occurs. He also offered advice to Active Rain Newbies. You can follow the link above to read his post. But to briefly summarize, there are many people who think the only way to get a featured post is to be "popular" (lol). Oh my! If I'm not part of the in-crowd, I can't get a featured post! (WRONG!)
So I'm writing this post to further address this topic, and to share with you, how I commented on … (14 comments)

real estate: Here Come The Blog Cops! December 1st FTC Changes - 11/09/09 04:49 AM
I've been hearing rumors of this, but this is the first definitive information I've read. Thanks to Ken Cook for this.

December 1st, The FTC, Testimonials and your Blog/New Media
December 1, 2010 is the date your blog and all new media advertising meets new enforcement and scrutiny. Meet the Federal Trade Commission 16 CFR Part 255 "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising". Much of the "guide" applies to celebrity endorsements and the use of "disclaimers" such as those which say "results not typical".
The word "endorsement" is used 188 times in 16 CFR 255 and … (8 comments)

real estate: Blogging Before Active Rain... and NOW. A Short Trip Through Technology Time =) - 10/21/09 03:22 PM
When I first read the topic for the latest blog contest, I was pleased with the idea, since this was something I felt I could write about. But the days ticked by, and I found myself floundering for the creativity to write this post. I contemplated the avenues I've used in my real estate marketing; the many, many hours I've spent blogging, brainstorming, networking and... follow-upping? (lol. Sorry. I couldn't resist adding another "ing" word there), and the many topics I've covered throughout the years. I even scrolled back through the last few years of blog posts and found myself surprised … (10 comments)

OK REALTORS®. Here are a couple of questions for you  ;-)
