bethesda restaurants: Awesome Day 15 - Breakfast at the Tasty Diner - 01/29/20 11:29 AM
I had breakfast at the Tastee Diner this morning.  I had a classic diner breakfast - an endless cup of coffee, scrambled eggs, scrapple, toast with purple jelly, and a waitress that calls you "Hon."  There are jukeboxes on each formica topped table with songs like "My Way" by Frank Sinatra and "Stand by My Man" by Patsy Cline.  It is exactly what you expect a diner to be and that is very comforting.  Sometimes you just want two scrambled eggs rather than avocado toast - and that's when you go to the Tastee Diner.
The Tastee Diner is located in … (9 comments)

What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than hopping from restaurant tasting to restaurant tasting in downtown Bethesda  The Taste of Bethesda will take place again this year on October 5 in the Woodmont Triangle area, home to many popular Bethesda restaurants like Gringos and Mariachis and Duck, Duck, Goose, plus some wonderful condos like the Cheval and Stonehall.

bethesda restaurants: Class 520 - Teriyaki Ice Cream - Open in Bethesda! A Real Treat! - 06/25/17 05:40 AM
I have found a new favorite food in Bethesda -  rolled Thai ice cream at Class 520, located at 4941 Elm Street, close to the Dunkin Donut shop and Fancy Cakes by Leslie.
Class 520 serves “Thai-inspired” (also known as Teriyaki!) ice cream made by pouring a milk-based liquid onto an extremely cold, flat metal circle. The liquid is then spread out in a thin layer by one of the servers as you watch. Once the ice cream freezes, it is scraped into quarter-sized rolls and place in a bowl.  You get to choose a topping and then enjoy!

bethesda restaurants: Hot Diggity Dog! Grab Lunch at Bold Bite in Bethesda MD! - 11/10/15 11:00 AM
Bethesda is filled with lots of restaurants that offer full lunches with tableclothes, waiters and big checks, but sometimes your work schedule doesn't allow time for a leisurely lunch.  Sometimes you have to grab lunch and head straight back to work. If you are like I am, you are tired of the same old lunch food. Subway and McDonald's have their place, but there has to be more to life than the chain restaurants - even the healthy ones!  They get boring day after day.
If you are tired of the same old food at lunch and looking for a change, then … (9 comments)

bethesda restaurants: Foodie Friday - Paul Opens in Bethesda MD - Viennese Bakery & MORE! - 06/19/15 12:18 PM
Paul has just opened in the new space on Bethesda Avenue and Woodmont, right next to Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids, bringing a welcomed new place to eat in Bethesda.  Paul is a French based restaurant and bakery chain that can be found in the Boston area, Miami, and Washington DC within the US.  It offers an amazing collection of pastries and beautiful breads in addition to sandwiches, quiches, tarts, and salads.
It is definitely going to be competition for Le Pain Quotidien, around the corner on Bethesda Row, and Cosi, just a few steps away on Woodmont.  The food … (16 comments)

bethesda restaurants: Bethesda Curry Kitchen - Authentic Addition to Bethesda MD Food Scene - 05/26/15 09:00 PM
Several years ago I read in Time or Newseek that Bethesda, MD has more restaurants per capita than any other city in the United States - including Manhattan. That seemed like an overstatement - but we definitely do like our restaurants in Bethesda.
The Bethesda Curry Kitchen opened recently at 4860 Cordell Avenue, a quiet street on the north side of Old Georgetown Road. The restaurant celebrates the cuisine of Hyderabad, a city known for its Mughlai cuisine.  It has been on our list of places that we wanted to try and since yesterday was a day devoted to running errands and … (16 comments)

bethesda restaurants: Relocating to Bethesda- Mon Ami Gabi-a Great Restaurant @ Bethesda Row - 12/20/14 08:28 PM
I want to give a salute to my favorite restaurant in Bethesda - Mon Ami Gabi, which I admit is part of a small national chain, but they do a great job of serving delicious food in a charming atmosphere.  I haven't been to Paris for a while, and I miss the little bistros and restaurants that you find on every corner serving spectacular food, and Mon Ami Gabi does a great job of recreating that feeling in Bethesda, MD, on Woodmont Avenue.  Mon Ami Gabi is a quick walk up the Crescent Trail from the townhouses in Kenwood Forest, one of my … (8 comments)

bethesda restaurants: Foodie Friday - Smashburger Opens in Bethesda - 12/12/13 09:25 PM
There are lots of ways to cook a hamburger.  For instance, some people like their burgers smashed on the grill. It's Smashburger's second (of 12) locations slated to open in Maryland over the next two years.  Smashburger is a fast-growing,  "better burger" restaurant, offering burgers that are a … (2 comments)

bethesda restaurants: Kenwood Forest Kudos to Vapiano - a New Bethesda Restaurant - 08/30/10 03:17 PM
Bethesda continues to expand with one great restaurant after another.  Earlier this summer the Mussel Bar opened on Woodmont Avenue in the old Levante restaurant space.  Now Vapiano has joined the mix in the next block in a newly constructed building. I had seen the owners working on the outside of the restaurant on Friday night when I walked by with my daughter so I was definitely excited to go back to Vapiano for dinner last night on the opening day.  We arrived, not knowing what to expect - just that it was a spectacular space with olive trees for architectural … (0 comments)

bethesda restaurants: Kenwood Forest Kudos to Pines of Rome in Bethesda - 07/30/10 02:56 PM
Bethesda Maryland is a small town with more restaurants per capita than almost any place else in the United States - including New York City!  We have undergone a revolution over the last five years or so in downtown Bethesda. We now have sushi restaurants on nearly every block. There are Mexican restaurants galore, and French, of course.  Looking for a small brewery or Irish pub grub - you can find it easily in Bethesda! Need an Afghan fix or tapas? We have that too.  As the world has shrunk, we have gotten more cosmopolitan and demanding in our opportunity to … (0 comments)
