(You'll  never look at the game  the same way again!)
Starting  in 1941, an increasing number of British Airmen found themselves as the involuntary guests of the Third Reich, and  the Crown was casting about for ways and means to facilitate  their escape...
Now  obviously, one of the most helpful aids to that end is a useful and accurate map, one showing
not  only where stuff was, but also showing the locations of 'safe houses' where a POW on-the-lam could go for food and  shelter. Paper  maps had some real drawbacks -- they make a lot of noise when  you open and fold them, they wear out rapidly, and if they get  … (6 comments)

dc home search: Try Showing Properties in the Aftermath of Snow-zilla! - 02/13/10 02:35 PM

Finally, the snow has stopped falling for a few days - as you know, and that means we in DC can go back to work - finally!
When I went back to the office on Friday, I was so excited to see everyone that I hugged our manager, our office administrator, and our receptionist.  Between the joy of getting out of the house and seeing friends and colleagues, Friday was a great day.

DDOT laid the tracks in concrete during the road improvement so that DDOT does not have to dig up the road again once the street cars arrived.  Right now, light rail lines are being built in Northeast DC and the Anacostia neighborhood, with plans for a citywide system to come.  The plan is that street cars will run from 3rd and H St NE to Benning Rd and Oklahoma … (6 comments)

Best Overall Restaurants - Washington, D.C. Area
There are many wonderful reasons to rejoice in living in the DC metro area, and our restaurant selection definately counts as one of them.  I like to joke that every time there is a revolution in some far away country which necessitates a change in its embassy staff, the chef for the previous ambassador and staff stays in DC and opens a restaurant.  We are truly a Heinz 57 variety of restaurants in the DC metro area - offering cusine from Albania to Zaire and many points in between.  If you are interested in … (2 comments)
