If you are relocating to Washington, or are a long time native, here is a fun activity for the whole family! Because Washington is a world capital, Christmas markets here are really international events, attracting members of the city's diplomatic class and making use of prime embassy space. For example, Finnish Ambassador Ritva Koukku-Ronde is the patron of Saturday's Finnish Christmas Bazaar in Bethesda, and the Swedish women's organization SWEA holds its annual market at the Swedish Embassy in Georgetown on Dec. 6.

Chevy Chase is the name of both a town and an unincorporated census-designated place (CDP) in Montgomery County, Maryland. In addition, a number of villages in the same area of Montgomery County include "Chevy Chase" in their names. These villages, the town, and the CDP share a common history and together form a larger community colloquially referred to as "Chevy Chase". This community is roughly centered on Connecticut Avenue north of the District of Columbia and also includes a neighborhood of Washington, D.C., called Chevy Chase. This is a picture of Chevy Chase Circle around 1900. You can see the trolley car and no other traffic! This is an amazing photo to imagine Chevy Chase Circle without traffic. Also missing is the fountain which happily splashes now!

One of the best places to take small children in the entire DC metro area is Glen Echo Park. Operated by the National Park Service, Glen Echo Park uses the abandoned buildings from an old amusement park. The Family Day on May 4, a fun-filled annual event, celebrates the opening of the historic Dentzel Carousel for its 93rd season in Glen Echo Park and offers a full day of activities for families. The carousel operates from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., $1.25 per ride.

Bethesda, Maryland is a community that loves its pets – and it is a community that loves a good charitable event! When the two are combined into a charity event for pets, everyone is a winner! And we all go home with a smile on our faces! Mutts Matter Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization and is run entirely by volunteers And donations. with combined rescue experience of over 15 years. They work in conjunction with shelters and other organizations, to help save animals on death row, the strays on the street, or ones in unsafe living conditions.
