For example, Finnish Ambassador Ritva Koukku-Ronde is the patron of Saturday's Finnish Christmas Bazaar in Bethesda, and the Swedish women's organization SWEA holds its annual market at the Swedish Embassy in Georgetown on Dec. 6.

One of the best places to take small children in the entire DC metro area is Glen Echo Park. Operated by the National Park Service, Glen Echo Park uses the abandoned buildings from an old amusement park. The Family Day on May 4, a fun-filled annual event, celebrates the opening of the historic Dentzel Carousel for its 93rd season in Glen Echo Park and offers a full day of activities for families.
