Hi everyone. It has been a minute since I was able to blog. With the passing of my wife's father, I have been the daddy and the mommy for 2 weeks.  Suffice to say, it has been busy.
Many things have gone on in the last couple of weeks.
1.  Run the Reagan was a great success. Last Saturday (2/19/11), they closed Ronald Reagan Parkway.  Participants could run a 5K or run the entire highway.  They had local sponsors and set up an area for kids to play.  My kids had a blast- no, I didn't run but enjoyed the festivities … (0 comments)

Emory Eastside Hospital's planned expansion is ahead of schedule.  On October 18, the foundation was poured for the emergency room expansion. Phase 1 should be opened in April of 2011.
The third medical office building is also well under way.  The use of precast walls is moving the project along nicely. It should open in May of 2011.
The Main Entrance has also been enhanced with a new visitors information center, human resources department and admissions.
Snellville is home to this first class facility. Both of my kids were born there and the level of service is second to none.  The expansion … (0 comments)

snellville community events: Gwinnett County Cancels School Tomorrow/State of Emergency in Georgia - 01/09/11 03:11 PM
Gwinnett County canceled school tomorrow.  Governor Sonny Purdue, in what is most likely his last act as governor, declared a state of emergency.
I was out earlier this evening around 9:00 p.m. in Snellville.  124 was totally covered in just about 30 minutes of snow fall. In the 2 minutes it took to return a movie and go back to my car, the car was covered.
Driving is very dangerous now. The downtown connector has an overturned truck.  The DOT put a mix of salt and gravel down on the roads prior to the snow to avoid icing over.
It appears … (0 comments)

snellville community events: Gwinnett County Public Schools Wins the $1 Million Broad Prize - 10/19/10 04:31 PM
Hats off to Gwinnett County Public Schools for winning the Broad Prize. The Broad foundation awards "urban" school districts who have demonstrated great gains and the closing of achievement gaps. Last year, Gwinnett was a finalist and took home $250,000 in scholarships for GCPS students. This year, GCPS won!
Why did GCPS win?
The achievement gap between White and African-American students shrunk. GCPS outperformed other state and Atlanta area districts.
