century 21: Bye-Bye BBQ Hut!

This morning I had a call from a buyer wanting to see a house in Plantersville. I called and set up the appointment for 9am. On the way over to the showing I saw this BBQ Hut in Magnolia being moved. The city has been trying to do away with all the businesses right next to the railroad tracks in Magnolia.
The BBQ Hut was the last to be moved. I think it had been there for over 20 years.

Fire at Tomball Parkway and Holderreith Rd Tuesday May 10th, 2011.
Here was the scene as I approached Holderreith. The grass is VERY dry here.
I saw this fire yesterday when I was driving home from the Century 21 office. There were lots of emergency vehicles.
I must commend the fire department and the police officers on duty. They handled the whole situation with only shutting down one lane and not blocking the traffic at all.

I want to say this is a Saurat, but I'm not certain. I hope they have some Monets and Manets on exhibit. I think I saw two of Monet's Water Lily oil paintings on exhibit a few years ago at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth. They were really lovely.

The Houston Galleria -- A Timeless Treasure! I remember when my mother bought me here to buy a fur collar coat when I was a teenager. And the stores still look as modern and prosperous today as they were back then. They have really done a good job of keeping current with the times.

This seasons Amazing Race was called "Unfinished Business" and all the contestants were teams that had raced in a previous season, but had not won. This seasons race spanned 5 continents, 23 cities and 40,000 miles, ending up at Seven Mile Bridge in Florida. I am experimenting with taking pictures with my camera. Sometimes the images turn out blurry, but I'm getting better at being able to take close up pictures. Flowers are a good subject to take pictures of -- they have such great colors.

I saw this movie a few weeks ago. It was really a lovely movie. It had a great story with a happy ending. The real stars of this movie, in my opinion, were the elephant (Rosie), Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson. Happy Birthday Mother! You Would Have Been 90 Years Old Today. I remember such fun memories that we had together, like going to Zilker Botanical Gardens in Austin when I was little, playing scrabble after dinner when we got together, and poker with the family in Galveston. These cute ducks always make me feel happy when I go to feed them. They are so silly, that sometimes I even laugh out loud at their antics.
This gazebo is in between two of the office buildings that are on this lake.
This brown duck is an unusual sight. I don't think I've seen many ducks with a brown chest.
