tourism: Coba, Mexico -- Interesting Architecture -- Jan 2013 - 04/21/13 07:36 AM
This was from my Carnival Cruise on Jan 2013.  My Cozumel excursion was to Coba to climb the pyramid.

This picture gives you a scale of how big the pyramid is.

Lots of folks tried to climb this pyramid.  It is about the last pyramid you can climb on.

This man was happy he made it to the top.  The ride to this pyramid took almost 4 hours by bus.
We were late getting back to the ship, but they waited for us.

Dancing waiters on Carnival cruise ship.  Lots of upbeat music, and FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

tourism: UP844 Steam Train Video -- November 2012 - 11/08/12 07:29 AM
Great video of UP844 zooming through its trip to Texas, New Mexico and Colorado.  My friend Ed was the engineer on this trip.  The turn out in all the small towns was amazing, with the turnout in Amarillo being so big we had a hard time finding a parking space.  I was told UP844 had never travelled this way.  I was happy so many people turned out to see it.
UP844 is touring America as part of a goodwill tour and to celebrate the UP 150 year anniversary.

tourism: I Love To Travel, But It Is Always Great To Come Home To Texas! - 11/19/11 10:35 AM
I Love To Travel, But It Is Always Great To Come Home To Texas!

I was told that this is a famous picture.  Have you seen it before?  The mountains are the Guadalupe Mountains.

I happened upon a new rest area.

This is one of the fanciest rest areas I've seen in Texas.  It has lots of lovely stone and tile.

The information boards tell about the surrounding area and also about the wind turbine project.

They built some nice picnic areas as well.

When I travel, I always love to see this sign.

tourism: Where did I take this picture? - 09/07/10 06:40 AM

Where did I take this picture?  I was on vacation and was driving on the highway and happened upon a sign for this attraction.  I could not resist turning around and driving there to take a look.  Hint:  It was associated with a President of the United States.  It was not as big as I thought it would be, but I certainly recognized it when I saw it.  Where am I?

tourism: USS Lexington -- Corpus Christi, TX - 08/29/09 06:18 AM

The next time you are in Corpus Christi, make sure to go by the USS Lexington.  It is open every day from 9am to 6pm.  It is kind of hot, but well worth the discomfort.  They had helicopters and planes on the top deck.  The public is allowed to go on most parts of the ship.  It has a deck that raises and lowers (the one used to bring planes up top).  Sorry the pic is so big, but it looked funny when I tried to shrink it.
