covid19: COVID-19 Or Not, Homes Are Still Selling - 03/29/20 07:31 PM
You might think that with a shelter in place order for Ohio that there wouldn't be much action in the real estate sector.
And in some cases, that's probably true.  Homes that have been on the market for some time with a challenging characteristic or price are seeing a slowdown.
But homes new to the market?  There's still a pent up demand for the new and different, and buyers are waiting and watching, and if that new home on the market fills a need, you can expect visitors.
There's no overlapping showings allowed in our market right now, but a home can still have … (2 comments)

covid19: Cincinnati MLS Makes Changes Due To COVID-19 - 03/23/20 07:57 PM
In an hour Governor DeWine's Shelter In Place order goes into effect for Ohio.  This order puts a restriction on what businesses can and can't be open and currently lasts through April 6th.
Bottom line, it's an effort to get people to STAY HOME.  Flatten the curve.  Diminish the spread.  You've heard the drill about 1000 times by now, so wash your hands (again) and stand by for some more news you can use.
As we mentioned yesterday, real estate IS considered an essential business during the Shelter In Place.
This evening Cincinnati MLS sent out a notification to area agents to help during this … (4 comments)

covid19: Can You Still Buy Or Sell An Ohio Home During Shelter In Place? - 03/22/20 05:11 PM
Ohio, just like much of the U.S., has been in a fluid environment the last few weeks thanks to COVID-19.  Where possible, "work from home" has become the mantra.
Social distancing has been requested, and obviously some have been taking it more seriously than others.
So the next step?  Governor DeWine announced a "shelter in place" order effective Monday at midnight and ending April 6th (of course that's subject ot change).
Shelter in place isn't a lock-down. and businesses considered "essential" are allowed to continue to operate.
If your favorite restaurant is still offering take-out, you're still allowed to order and pick it up.
Depending on … (4 comments)

covid19: Should I Take My Home Off The Market Because Of COVID-19? - 03/21/20 08:23 PM
You've heard the buzz.  COVID-19 is coming.  Or it's already here.
It's going to be REALLY bad.  Or maybe it's overblown.
So maybe it's time for you to do some thinking.
Should you take your home off the market until this COVID-19 thing is over?
It's not a question I can directly answer for you, but I can give you a few things to consider to help you make a more informed decision.
First, as far as COVID-19, consult the CDC website for the latest facts.

I know what I'm doing for myself and what … (6 comments)

covid19: What Are The Risks Of Buying A Home During COVID-19? - 03/20/20 05:30 PM
Whether you're buying a home during a pandemic or not, there are always fundamental factors to consider.
Is the home the best fit for your needs?
Is the neighborhood a good one?
Schools?
Stability?
You're making a decision in a fairly stable environment and your real estate agent can help answer the majority of your questions.
You decide it's the right home, offer, contract, inspection, appraisal, financing, closing.  Maybe really smooth, maybe a bit bumpy, but at the end you have keys to your new home.
Now enter COVID-19 and the complexity level goes up significantly.
FOR NOW (as of this writing) IN SOUTHWEST OHIO, the process for … (5 comments)

covid19: Looking Out For Small Businesses In COVID-19's Wake - 03/15/20 04:48 PM
Believe whatever you choose in regards to COVID-19.  Completely overblown?  Or necessarily prudent so we can look back on this later and know everything that needed done was done to prevent an even worse scenario.
Earlier today Governor DeWine closed bars and restaurants starting at 9 p.m. tonight.  Carryout and Delivery are still allowed, but no in-house dining.  This is just the next step in limiting large gatherings and flattening the curve.
Obviously this is going to hurt a lot of small business owners, and even franchise owners, and of course their employees.
And in our local area there are several places that … (5 comments)

covid19: Corona, Closings, Crowds & Church - 03/12/20 05:04 PM
Unless you've just come down out of a moutain hermit's cave, you've heard about the corona virus COVID-19.
If you're a big sports fan you're probably in full withdrawal.  NBA, NHL, NCAA basketball, MLS, MLB, you may have to resort to badminton tournament reruns.
My engineering job just put the site into work from home mode.  Unless you have an essential must be there in person role, working remote is the order of the day.
Rumor has it P&G did the same today and I expect other companies to follow suit.
Governor Dewine just closed schools for the next 3 weeks so parents … (6 comments)
