Tonight I'm gathering data for my Mason Ohio market reports:  Mason condos and Mason single family homes.
Pulling data is a crossover from my engineering life.  Extract numbers, process them, determine context and form conclusions.  Do it right and my clients benefit significantly.  Miscalculate and I could cost them tens of thousands of dollars, so it's an aspect of this job I take seriously.

They can make the gray matter between your ears smoke if you're not used to that kind of stuff.
But let's face facts.
How many agents are there in your market?  A dozen?  Hundreds?  Thousands?  Tens of thousands?  I know the Cincinnati/Dayton corridor has thousands of agents between the two metro areas.  That's a LOT of competition, right?

It happened again yesterday while listening to the radio.  The announcer reads off "The National Association of REALTORS® reports homes sales were down 2.6% last month".  And don't quote me on the exact number, but that was the whole statement.  Nothing extra.  No context Meanwhile my brain is going, down 2.6% COMPARED TO WHAT??  Compared to February?  Compared to March 2011?  Compared to the best month ever??  What sales?  All sales?  Single family residences or condos or farms?  Was it 60 year old post-war brick ranch homes that dropped 2.6% or new construction that … (53 comments)
