Tucked away on 160 acres in Northern Williamson County, is a private non profit wildlife sanctuary.  Owl's Hill Nature Sanctuary does not have regular visiting hours, but  runs great programs on a regular basis.  Hoots and Hayrides takes place this weekend, October 10, 2010 from 1pm to 5pm.  Check out the website for details.

Alright, I admit it.  Technically it's not Williamson County.  But....it's close enough and interesting enough to warrant a mention!  Rippavilla Plantation is located in Spring Hill, TN (yes, it IS Maury County) at 5700 Main Street (US Highway 31, just across from the Saturn Plant).

Fall has arrived and the time has come!  the 27th annual pumpkinfest is arriving on Saturday October 30, 2010 beginning at 10:00 am. in downtown Franklin, TN.
This year, the pumpkinfest festival will be kicked off by the first annual Battle of the Barbeque starting on October 29 and continuing on October 30.  Sanctioned by the Memphis BBQ network, the Battle of the Barbeque participants will be battling for $10,000 in cash prizes, trophies and bragging rights.  Both amateur and professionals will be BBQing!  Come down and enjoy the fun..

Racing, jumping, obedience, and man's best friend!  Come out to the Williamson County Ag Expo Park on October 7-10 to watch the Nashville Dog Training Club's Dog Agility Trial.  Admission is free, and it is taking place from 7am to 7pm (according to the entry brochure).   The Nashville Dog Training Club is an affiliate of the American Kennel Club (AKC).

Tinkerbell.  No, not the famous one from the book of your childhood, but the community playground nicknamed for the bells played by the children who romp there. Located in Pinkerton Park has 34 acres, a paved walking trail (with lights), and is a short hike to Fort Granger. Take the pedestrian bridge, which connects you with downtown Franklin. Stay for a while, grill, picnic and just hang out.
