Addison, Texas has not been as hard hit with foreclosures as other parts of the country, but foreclosures do exist here. The foreclosure auction is held at the county courthouse on the first Tuesday of each month. If you live near Midway Road and Beltway in Addison Texas, you are probably aware of the Super 8 motel that sits behind Jaxx Steakhouse. Be advised that the owner of the Super 8 has requested that the Planning & Zoning Commission allow a tower to be built atop the hotel so that he can display signage on all sides of the tower. Specifically, he is proposing an amendment to an Addison ordinance to allow a change in building height above 35 feet.

High Tea at Chocolate Angel.
Twenty two Addison Pacesetters spent an enjoyable afternoon last Friday at Chocolate Angel, a delightful restaurant in Richardson, Texas. High Tea included finger sandwiches, scones with cream, and a delicious assortment of dessert delicacies, not to mention a variety of teas. We rode in style in a minibus with an interior fitted out like a limo.

Addison Pacesetters (the 50+ group) meet the first Wednesday of each month at Dunn Bros. Coffeehouse on Beltline Road and learn about the Town of Addison. This month, Barbara Ball, the Information Coordinator at Metrocrest Senior Adult Services, spoke to us. Here are some interesting tidbits from her presentation.
The Metrocrest Senior Adult Services provides services to seniors, ages 60+ in Addison, Coppell, Farmers Branch and Carrollton. There are 3 case managers, plus volunteers. The second opportunity for citizens to learn more about the Dallas Independent School District's (DISD) George H. W. Bush Elementary School will be January 21, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Construction is about to begin(first quarter of 2010). The site for the new school is on the southeast corner of DISD's Loos Field property on Spring Valley Road in Addison.

Each year, town employees and council members deliver the calendars to every home in Addison. Each year there is a new theme. Last year's I am Addison (complete with bumper stickers) has been replaced with We're Glad You're Here. (Sorry, no bumper stickers this year.)
