"The Diary of Anne Frank" is now on stage at Addison's WaterTower Theatre, but you'll have to hurry to see it. The run ends February 5, 2012.
The play, adapted by Wendy Kesselman, and directed by Terry Martin, is based on the original play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, ultimately based on the book Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. The story is of Anne Frank's short, tragic, but poignant life. Born in Germany on June 12, 1929 to Otto and Edith Frank, Anne's parents decided to move north to the Netherlands where they believed they would be … (2 comments)

Lorrie's Using "Horrors" and "Addison" in the Same Sentence? What's Up?
What's up is the Addison WaterTower Theatre's production of Little Shop of Horrors. Previews begin July 22, 2011 and the performances run through August 21st.
The Women of WaterTower (WOW!) were treated to a sneak peek at last night's dress rehersal.  Seymour is played by Jason Kennedy and Mary Gilbreath Grim reprises the role of Audrey.  Puppeteer Kevin Moore and the voice of Joseph Holt bring Audrey II, the blood-thirsty plant to life. There is a wacky dentist, high on nitrous oxide (Alex Organ); the owner of Mushnik's flower shop … (2 comments)

addison watertower theatre: WOW! Women of WaterTower Theatre - 05/11/11 01:49 AM
Women of WaterTower (WOW!) is a group of women who support Addison's WaterTower Theatre. The goal of the organization is to offer members the opportunity to connect, to expand horizons about the arts with prestigious speakers – often women working in the arts, and to help build wider community support for WaterTower Theatre.
WOW members met at the theatre on Monday for the first reading of the next play, Shooting Star. The director, Mark Fleischer, the two actors, Jim Crawford and Diana Sheehan, and Heidi Shin, the production/stage manager took center stage and showed us how the rehersal process begins, with … (3 comments)

addison watertower theatre: Foote Festival - Addison's Contribution - 04/05/11 02:09 PM
Horton Foote, a Texas playwright, is being honored across North Texas and Addison's WaterTower Theatre is involved. This year would have marked Foote's 95th birthday. In celebration, Metroplex organizations have organized a 2-month Foote Festival that includes movie screenings, stage performances and lectures. Foote is best recognized for his Academy Award-winning screenplays, To Kill a Mockingbird and Tender Mercies, but he was a prolific and Pulitizer Prize-winning playwright, too.
The Traveling Lady, the earliest work in the Foote Festival, opened Monday at the WaterTower Theatre. Although dated and old-fashioned, it still charmed and moved us in the audience during the preview … (4 comments)

If you live in my town (Addison, Texas) you can see Our Town for free!
It's not too late to make reservations to see Thornton Wilders play Our Town for free on this Sunday, September 26th, 2010 at 2:00 P.M.   Addison's WaterTower Theatre is presenting this opportunity to meet other Addison neighbors and see a classic play in a "one of a kind facility by a one of a kind theatre company." I attended the preview last night.  This is an opportunity to see the theatre's artistic director Terry Martin on the stage instead of behind the scenes, as he plays … (3 comments)

addison watertower theatre: Now On Stage at Addison WaterTower Theatre: Black Pearl Sings! - 05/29/10 06:23 AM
If you find yourself with a free evening between now and June 20th (2010), head over to the WaterTower Theatre at 15650 Addison Road, Addison TX for a real treat.
Black Pearl Sings! is a live theater performance of a Frank Higgins play, directed by Terry Martin, featuring two powerful performances by Diana Sheehan and Liz Mikel.  These women can sing!  I attended last night's performance and am still thinking about the play.
Set in the mid 1930s, the play's only characters are Susannah Mullally, a Library of Congress employee who travels the country recording lost traditional songs and Alberta "Pearl" … (1 comments)

Ah, Addison! Not a city, but a "town." The Town of Addison. The best place to live and work in North Texas. There's something to be said about a place that doesn't take itself too seriously. Note the exclamation point in the town's name. Here you'll find the ruminations, rants and raves of one of the town's realtors and residents.
