Addison, Texas has not been as hard hit with foreclosures as other parts of the country, but foreclosures do exist here. The foreclosure auction is held the first Tuesday of each month. addison: Addison Eateries To Participate in KRLD Restaurant Week, 2011

Each summer, Dallas area restaurants participate in a fund raiser for the North Texas Food Bank. The establishments offer special three-course, fixed price dinners. This year, several Addison restaurants are opening their doors to this event.
Restaurants participating in this year's KRLD Restaurant Week in the Addison and North Dallas area include:
Dinners are $35.00 per person with $7.00 from each dinner benefiting the food bank. Beverages, tax and gratuity are additional and reservations are required.
Restaurant Week runs August 15 through August 21, and some restaurants extend their special menus into September.

There's always something to do in Addison, Texas. On steamy Saturday nights in the summer, come out to Beckert Park (just east of Addison Circle). Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and a cooler filled with your favorite beverages. The event is pet friendly, so you don't have to leave Fido at home.
Entertainment for the remaining Saturdays this month:

Bruce Hopewell, one of the two Building Inspectors for the Town of Addison, spoke to the Addison Pacesetters (Addison, Texas residents 50+ years of age) on Wednesday, and everyone was surprised by what he had to say. The Pacesetters meet the first Wednesday of each month at Dunn Bros. Coffeehouse on Belt Line Road and learn about the Town of Addison through employees who work in various departments. This month, Bruce told us about building permits and inspections of residential properties.

Addison Pacesetters Dine at Flavors.
There's always something to do in Addison, Texas, especially if you're a resident 50+ years of age. Addison Pacesetters have a full schedule of activities. If you're a member of the Addison Athletic Club, you get the quarterly Accolade newsletter and the events are listed there.
Once a month, the Pacesetters meet for lunch in one of Addison's many restaurants. This month, we met at Flavors on Belt Line Road, across from Sam's Club. For the long-time Addison residents, this is the former location of the Cafe Express restaurant.

Addison Election Results. Thoughts on the 2011 races.
Congratulations to the winners in the May 14th election in Addison, Texas. It felt like a very long campaign season.
It always amazes me how few of the eligible voters get out and exercise their right to vote. In a town of over 15,000, only about 10% voted. The mayoral race was decided by just 47 votes.
If you didn't vote, don't complain.
It's going to take more than "looking ahead together" to keep Addison the great city that it is. "Looking" and "governing" are two entirely different activities. G-d bless Addison.

The semi-annual Addison garage sale was held under the big white tent in the Sam's Club parking lot on Saturday. With perfect weather, eager crowds, and an improving economy, the event was a success!
On Friday morning, the tent was empty:

It's time for my favorite Addison event: the community garage sale!
Under the big tent in the Sam's Club parking lot is where you will find hundreds of shoppers making purchases and finding bargains from dozens of Addison residents selling their unwanted items. Although the event officially opens at 8:00 am to the public, savvy shoppers arrive at dawn when the locals set up and unload their boxes and trunks.

Addison, Texas is overrun with political signs. You can't drive down any street, turn any corner without seeing "vote for me" signs everywhere. But do these signs make a difference, or are they just eye pollution?
