While real estate activity in some parts of the country is beginning to soften, I don't see signs of that in most of the market segments in San Mateo County, California. Not only is San Mateo County home to a number of bio-tech firms and established firms like Oracle and United Airlines, it also home to four of LinkedIn's 2019 top ranked startups. Located between San Francisco and the Silicon Valley helps keep unemployment low and home sales strong. Yesterday's question from my client: "I feel like that the market is over inflated right now. What are your thoughts on that? We don't want to buy during a rebound just to find out that housing prices will come down next year." My response: "I wish I had a definitive answer for you, but no crystal ball here. What keeps the Peninsula market consistently strong is the shortage of inventory, the lack of land for building new large scale developments, and the strong, diverse employment opportunities, ones with high-paying jobs. What a Week! Are you ever asked, "what's your day like?" The life of a Realtor in San Mateo County and the Silicon Valley is so varied it's impossible to answer with any accuracy, I can only say what I've planned for the day.
