dungeness crab: Commercial season for Dungeness crab has opened near San Francisco - 01/17/21 06:41 AM
Commercial season for Dungeness crab, a west coast specialty, normally opens by mid-November. This year the season opening in our area was delayed until January 11. 2021, with the first pulls a few days later, and a few days later still for crabs to reach our local markets.
San Francisco Gate's article tells more of the story.
I'll be showing property and working most of today, but if I'm lucky I'll come home to a crab dinner prepared by my favorite chef -- hubby Gene! Can't wait to taste those delectable morsels!

dungeness crab: Gratitude Post #5 - Grateful for Dungeness Crab - 11/14/18 09:55 PM

The boats were laden with crab pots to be set out the next day; everything was getting in ship-shape order. When the work was done, fishermen could be spotted lounging around the pier, but rather than being relaxed, one could feel the tension, like a wound spring, ready to jump into action.

dungeness crab: Excitement is building on the West Coast - 11/13/16 11:31 PM
November 15th is the day that the commercial crabbing season gets underway this year, and at Princeton Harbor, just north of Half Moon Bay, California, excitement is in the air.
The harbor is bustling in anticipation; crabbers are waiting to load the crab pots onto the boats; the boats are ready to head out first thing tomorrow morning.
Fresh Dungeness crab at Thanksgiving or at Christmas is a tradition for many of us. Walk-away crab cocktails at Fisherman's Wharf; community crab feasts in February and March --- we're anticipating good things to come our way in just a matter of days.
