Many of you know about the San Francisco fog. It is such a presence in the city that someone (a deep, dark secret) gave it a name, "Karl the Fog." Karl has been visiting us a lot more than usual this November, more of a summer pattern than one of fall. He doesn't stay all day, and doesn't visit every neighborhood equally, but he's had fun lately playing games with us - will he appear or won't he? While much of the country is seeing cooler temperatures after a sizzling-hot summer, here in California we're in the midst of our wild fire season. The recent heat wave in the San Francisco Bay Area has been a major concern. Not only has it made for uncomfortably hot days -- 102-degrees in San Jose yesterday, around 89-degrees in temperate San Francisco -- we are always on the alert for wildfires. Why Living in the San Francisco area is so great - Reason #3"The fog comes on little cat feet ...."This January morning is a good example of just how quickly the weather changes. This first picture was taken around 7:30 AM. You can see the top of Mount Tamalpais on the left, Tiburon in the middle, and Angel Island on the right: By 8:10 AM the view had changed to this, with just a hint of Mt.
