fort mason: Fort Mason Community Garden - Day #1 at my garden plot - 02/04/17 05:04 PM
You might have read about my excitement at finally getting notice that, after over 7 years on a waiting list, a garden plot at the Fort Mason Community Garden had finally become available for me.
This afternoon was the time arranged for me to meet the membership volunteer, pay my fees, get an orientation around the area (I had no idea there was a club house area) and....choose my garden plot.
Two plots were available. Each plot is roughly 5' x 20' in size. One is in pretty much full sun, which in San Francisco could be a real benefit. The other is … (17 comments)

fort mason: After 7 years, my patience has been rewarded - 02/02/17 01:20 PM
Two days ago I received an email which read:
"Hi Lottie,Your wait seems to be over! There are a couple plots available at Ft. Mason Community Garden! Please contact me and we'll talk about the procedure and schedule a time to meet.If you are no longer interested, please let me know."
After 7 long years of waiting, I finally had moved to the top of the waiting list for a garden plot at the Fort Mason Community Garden! I was elated!
And then the doubts began to creep in:
when will I find the time to plant and care for my garden? what do I … (28 comments)

fort mason: An evening walk-the-cobwebs-out-of your-brain walk - 10/10/16 03:52 PM
After a weekend of hot, sunny weather (84° in San Francisco on Saturday, 75° on Sunday) perfect for Fleet Week and the three afternoons of air shows, we woke to a layer of thick fog across the bay and into the surrounding neighborhoods.  By mid-day, temperatures were close to 20° degrees cooler than the day before; most of the fog burned off, but there was a bit mist still in the air.
The weather is one of the fun things about living in San Francisco - there's always a surprise around the corner!
Another delight is taking a walk at the end of the … (12 comments)

fort mason: Can a photo energize a person? - 09/21/16 01:43 AM
Can a photo energize a person?
I took this snapshot last Sunday as I was walking through Fort Mason in San Francisco, heading to my weekly farmer's market there. I enjoy looking at it, and feel energy coursing through my body when I do.
the sun is shining, people are walking and jogging along happily I see the Golden Gate Bridge, which to me is the gateway to hiking heaven I see the Marin Headlands just beyond the bridge--open space with trails galore just waiting to be explored and enjoyed I see houses in the little town of Sausalito climbing up the … (20 comments)

fort mason: New this week at the Ft. Mason farmer's market - 05/24/16 01:35 AM
This was the first in many Sundays that I had a chance to walk down to the farmer's market at Ft. Mason in San Francisco.
A new addition was there, which appealed to me, Leo's Rocks and Plants. Leo drives over from Concord two Sundays a month to share his creations with us.
These would make wonderful client gifts, and worth taking the car some future Sunday.

fort mason: Ft. Mason Farmers Market - last summer Sunday - 09/20/15 07:15 AM
Today is the last Sunday of summer 2015.
We're in a midst of a heatwave in San Francisco and the Bay Area -- 89° in San Francisco at 2:15 in the afternoon - and it will get hotter. Quite unusual.
My trek to the Farmers' Market at Fort Mason Center this morning was cooler than that, but still I walked on the shady side of the street, even in the downhill direction.
The beauty and bounty at the Farmers' Market says Fall is just around the corner, even if the thermometer is pretending otherwise.
Grapes, fresh crop apples from Apple Hill near Placerville, … (8 comments)

fort mason: Sunday Morning Farmers Markets and Fort Mason, San Francisco - 08/12/14 12:10 AM
Sundays are busy days for Realtors® in San Francisco and San Mateo County, but before heading out to meet clients or host an Open House, I often make time to visit one of two great Farmer's Markets that are within easy walking distance for me.

Both have their special attractions, but many times I'm drawn to Fort Mason. The beauty of the area makes my heart happy, and never fails to make me smile and realize how fortunate I am to be living here.
This little video clip was taken last February. Twelve months a year I can … (11 comments)

fort mason: "Time Out" in San Francisco, CA - 06/27/10 06:08 AM
After a morning spent doing computer work, my husband and I took off in the afternoon to enjoy hiking up and down some of San Francisco's hills, enjoying dinner at our favorite fish restaurant, Hyde Street Seafood and Raw Bar, and capping off the day with an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista. While there, we popped into the Cable Car Museum, and finished our walk back to our car at the Marina Green area by walking through Ft. Mason. I hope you enjoy these video clips -- and I promise to some day figure out how to minimize wind noise! … (19 comments)

fort mason: Condo Life For Us - 02/09/09 12:23 PM
Just look at that view!

I would love to introduce you to our new dream.  This is the view from the living room and master bedroom of the condo that my husband and I are buying in the Pacific Heights area of San Francisco.  This view alone had us hooked and we just fell in love--looking down on Fort Mason, across the bay to Angel Island, Tiburon, Sausalito--what could be better?  Check out the VIDEO I took of the interior. We'll be finding a tenant for it soon, and looking forward to the future when we can enjoy it ourselves. Stay tuned for … (8 comments)
