living my san francisco dream: Exploring San Francisco - Russian Hill's Havens Street - 05/27/14 01:27 AM
Exploring San Francisco and Russian Hill is always a delight. No matter how often I walk up and down the streets, there's something new to spy.
Often a find a new staircase, or little alley that I can't resist exploring. Often I'm treated with a beautiful spot--maybe a garden, perhaps a stunning view -- or maybe simply a dead-end of not much interest.
On one recent walk we saw the street sign "Havens Street" with a flight of stairs that disappeared around the bend. It turns out this "street" is a garden-lined dead end pathway with houses and apartment buildings … (11 comments)

living my san francisco dream: More whimsey in San Francisco - 11/29/13 12:10 PM
Taking a walk in San Francisco is always delightful, with unexpected fun to be seen along the way.
A light post is generally quite utilitarian - it keeps us from tripping and provides safety. This one provided those benefits, but in a fun way.

I love the creative minds in San Francisco!
When you live your San Francisco dream, you're guaranteed to enjoy finding your own bits of whimsey to gladden your heart and make you smile.

living my san francisco dream: San Francisco Ferry to Sausalito - 11/27/13 01:33 AM
Here's an idea for a special evening: take the ferry boat from San Francisco to Sausalito and enjoy dinner at the Spinnaker Restaurant.

That's exactly how we enjoyed last night, our granddaughter's 12th birthday. The idea was her's, how she wanted to celebrate the evening -- no more little kid stuff!

I chauffeured the other 4 of our party to the Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street, dropped them off and proceeded to drive to Sausalito, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, about 5 miles away. They took the Golden Gate ferry and enjoyed a breathtakingly beautiful … (19 comments)

living my san francisco dream: Loving my San Francisco home - 10/30/13 05:26 AM
Since the beginning of October, when Liz Wallace first posed her question asking us what 'home' means to us, I've been thinking, thinking about how much I love my San Francisco home and why.
Much of my work is based in the Silicon Valley and on the San Francisco Peninsula. Driving on congested freeways can be taxing and the days are often long. But...as I drive up Van Ness Avenue approaching my little condo, I'm relaxed and happy, glad to be 'home.'

After living in the same suburban house for 35 years, we made a switch to a small (about … (12 comments)

living my san francisco dream: Creativity and Perseverance - 01/05/13 01:58 AM
Creativity and Perseverance - two traits which enrich our personal and business lives.
Part of Living My San Francisco Dream is the walking around town. San Francisco is a great city in which to walk, with surprises around every corner. That might be someone's whimsical garden wall, or an especially unique shop window. It can be the costumes outfits I spy on some of the people sitting at outdoor tables.
On two recent strolls through the beautiful Pacific Heights neighborhood, I spotted these:
Creativity
Perseverance
I'm off for another walk this morning -- what will today's lesson be, I wonder?

living my san francisco dream: Space Shuttle Endeavour - Good Bye and thank you from San Francisco - 09/21/12 04:44 AM
After 19 years of service, the space shuttle Endeavour is on its way to a museum in southern California. Thousands of San Franciscans headed out this morning to Crissy Field, to rooftop decks, and along the Embarcadero to catch a glimpse of its final piggy-back ride. This Realtor®, working from my home office this morning, was able to take a break and gaze out the window. I was not alone--every nearby rooftop deck had groups of people waiting to say a fond farewell.Blue skies and calm air allowed for several low, sweeping passes along the bay between the Oakland-San Francisco Bay … (12 comments)

living my san francisco dream: Our SF Active Rain Meet Up - a great Labor Day Weekend kick off - 08/31/12 01:47 PM
This afternoon we had a delightful Active Rain Meet Up here in San Francisco. What a lead-in to the holiday weekend! People from suburban neighborhoods are often curious what life is like in a large city, so I thought it would be fun to get together at my place in San Francisco, where I could give them a taste of city life while we enjoyed our Active Rain friendships. While small in numbers, we had the chance to really get to know each other better, share business ideas and have fun together.
Evelyn Kennedy came from Alameda; Chris Hansen from Oakland. … (19 comments)

living my san francisco dream: Life in San Francisco-Lisa Eddy Skin Care - 08/20/12 07:52 AM
Life in San Francisco - Lisa Eddy Skin Care

I first met Lisa Eddy and her discovered her amazing and intuitive skill a number of years ago at a spa in Mill Valley which, sadly, no longer is in operation.

Lisa Eddy, happily, is still very much in the wellness business and has developed quite a following over the years. Not only does she have an encyclopedic knowledge of skin care issues and products, she's a wonderful teacher, offering suggestions but always listening to you and your needs and wants. Her warmth and positive life attitude helps create a feeling … (7 comments)

living my san francisco dream: This Realtor's Sunday in San Francisco - 07/08/12 12:04 AM
This morning I happened across a short post, "What do social media people do on Sundays?" written by Philip Hoblin, a new Active Rain member. (Stop by and welcome Philip, won't you?)
In an attempt to share some coolness with those suffering from the current heat wave hitting much of the country, I'm posting this photo showing our natural air conditioning at work, and where I'll be out hiking shortly.
May cooling breezes soon come your way!

living my san francisco dream: Hiking San Francisco-A bus/hike adventure to Marin County - 06/30/12 03:16 AM
Hiking San Francisco is one of our favorite activities and a healthy, enjoyable way to spend some of our precious free time.

Sometimes a bus/hike adventure to Marin County just seems like the right thing to do. A one-way hike let's one cover some ground, and taking the bus to a trail head is a nice alternative to driving. It's easy to do just that as we discovered on a recent weekend.
The Golden Gate Transit runs busses from the Pacific Heights/Russian Hill/Nob Hill area of San Francisco to various spots in Marin. (I'm sure there are other … (6 comments)

living my san francisco dream: A Typical Evening Living in San Francisco - 06/28/12 10:38 PM
There's really no such thing as a typical evening in the life of a Realtor® ----...but last night might come close. After a long day's work, excitement isn't what my husband and I always want. Time to unwind; time to talk with each other; time for a bit of exercise, some good food, some laughter--that's the stuff a good evening is made of. So here's how our "typical" evening unfolded one night this week:
6:00-Gene arrived home after a grueling 2-hour traffic-snarled commute; I turned off my computer and ended the work day 6:30-we walked to the local CVS (less … (4 comments)

living my san francisco dream: Getting to Know The Mechanics Institute, San Francisco CA - 06/21/12 07:57 AM
Get Acquainted with The Mechanics Institute in San Francisco CA When I was a child, I would occasionally accompany my father on errands to San Francisco, and became acquainted with The Mechanics Institute, of which he was a member. My earliest memory of The Mechanics Institute is that I discovered I could shuffle my feet along the opague glass floors between stacks of books, and then shock myself by touching the brass handrail. I thought that was quite fun. Later, when I was in high school, it was the only library anywhere that I knew of open on Sunday (great for … (6 comments)

living my san francisco dream: Living my San Francisco Dream - Lafayette Park is getting a re-do - 06/13/12 01:45 AM
Living my San Francisco Dream - Lafayette Park is getting a re-do Lafayette Park sits high on a knoll in Pacific Heights, bordered by Washington, Gough, Sacramento and Laguna streets. It's a favorite of neighbors and visitors alike, both two-legged and four-legged. This multi-use park was created in 1936 and last updated in 1986. Like many of San Francisco's over 200 parks, it has been suffering from heavy use and time, and is in need of sprucing up. The time has come, and the plans for upgrading Lafayette Park are extensive. Repair and/or renovation is planned for the restroom facilities, children's … (4 comments)
