Earlier this week Lise Howe posted memories of her mother's cooking and requested that we share a recipe that our mothers cooked. Since reading that post, and with Mother's Day fast approaching, I've been thinking a lot about my mom.
I have such fond memories of her and appreciate her more with each passing year. Her faith, her spirit of adventure (heading off to Europe with only a backpack--when she was in her 60s), her unwavering belief in her children and unconditional love. recipes: Sunday evening and time to wind down - 04/14/19 08:02 PM
So here we are at the end of another busy week (I count my week Monday - Sunday.) While my husband is at a board meeting for the San Francisco City Chorus, I've finished my weekly recap and planning for the upcoming week and am checking in on Active Rain. In a few minutes I'll try a new recipe for us to enjoy as a late dinner tonight when he gets home.

recipes: Summer Family Dinner - Roasted Beet and Feta Salad - 12/25/18 11:32 AM
Three and a half years ago (!) I saved this Roasted Beets and Arugula salad recipe that Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD had shared. Not just for summer - last night's Christmas Eve crab dinner was enhanced by the clean flavors of the salad, which was a hit with the entire family, even those who don't usually care for green salads!

recipes: A Not-So-Spooky Halloween recipe - 10/26/15 02:58 PM
Okay, I get it - while many are posting absolutely ghoulish food creations for Halloween, I'll go the other direction - am I a rebel at heart?
I remember well the excitement of Halloween in my house when the girls were little. They could barely contain their excitement and wait until at least dusk when we'd head out in the neighborhood for some Trick or Treating.
I was determined they would eat something healthy before attacking candy, so quickly realized a pot of soup was the answer. Warm, healthy, easy to eat - just the ticket for mom and little monster alike.
