dog: Stop the jumping in 3 steps - 11/16/08 02:38 AM

Friends and family can come over again and wear white pants after a few quick lessons.
1. GIVE ANOTHER COMMAND
The very easiest way to correct this behavior is to give another behavior. For example, Sit is a great choice and most dogs know it.
2. PRAISE THE NEW COMMAND
Verbally or with a treat if you have one.
3. BE CONSISTENT
Practice makes perfect. Your dog will soon learn that when you come in, you say sit, he get's praise.
A new plan, practice, and patients will replace the old habit with a new trick.
